My understanding is that the pref privacy.resistFingerprinting;true
has been added to accommodate the Tor browser, and it has a target
audience that rarely uses WebGL related pages (or they have not been
able to understand and triage the root cause of these issues; or they
do not care even if WebGL did not work), and as a result there have
been only few eyeballs noticing this bug appearing.

The pref privacy.resistFingerprinting is not enabled in stock Firefox,
just when users manually enable it in about:config, or if using a
distribution like Tor.
