Now would be a good time to start exposing this extension, since it requires WebGL 2.0, which is about to be enabled by default in multiple browsers.

Google intends to support this extension; just filed http://crbug.com/678064 about doing so. We support moving it to draft status; Jeff (from Mozilla), any comment?

This is very misleading. What do you mean by “working on"?

In this case this simple specification is complete and ready for implementation. According to our rules, a spec should be promoted to draft before anyone attempts to implement it. This spec should be promoted so interested parties can implement it. Promotion will send precisely the right signals.
