Re: [Public WebGL] Re: retrograde webgl support levels
MAX_VARYING_VECTORS drop warning: A a dip in support levels from 10 to 9 by 4.6% (see http://codeflow.org/pictures/max-varying-vectors.jpeg
This change is only present in Google Chrome on Windows. OSX, Linux, ChromeOS and Mobiles are not affected. IE and Firefox are also not affected.
The dip in support coincides with the Google Chrome version that also added EXT_sRGB support, which happened about a week ago. It can be expected that the full impact will unfold next month and be in the range of around 20%.
As with previous drops of this nature I'm issuing a warning because:
- There are not many varying vectors to use, and 9 varying vectors is the second lowest value observed. This makes it likely that applications will break because of this.
- The varying vector level of 10 reached a 99% level in October 2014, and so this minimum support level has some historical support.
- The change is abrupt and vendor/OS isolated.
