If you're going to be snotty, at least make sure you have taken the time to fully understand what the other party wrote. And don't put words in the other party's mouth.

Untrue, OES_texture_half_float_linear is supported 50% of available devices. It is OES_texture_float_linear that is not supported.
Your statement and mine are wholly unrelated and no part of my statement is untrue.
 

The Khronos ES WG had no such compunction, and that's not what OES means for WebGL anyway.
I was talking about the Khronos ES WG, of which I am a member. The reluctance is real. I don't know how this extension slipped through.

It *IS* a standard extension. Read that again, "ex-ten-shion". It means it may be available, or it may be not. I have yet to meet anybody who does not understand that.
"Standard feature" here means a standard feature of OpenGL ES, i.e. available in all implementations.
