In this topic, techniques like arb_timer_query (and the equivalent "how much time was spent in the driver") become very important.
Armed with these pieces of information, you can accomplish much of what is being discussed here.
That's a cool idea.
- Will it work in the way browsers use the context? (as in does the GPU processes context map cleanly to a WebGL context)
- ES does not have the extension, would that block introduction of it?
- Can Direct3D9 do those?
