The core issue it would seem is that the OpenGL ES registry is not defining a cross-vendor MRT extension of any sort. I strongly suspected that in principle more devices than those supporting NV_draw_buffers and NV_fbo_color_attachment can do MRT (for instance the PowerVR chipset family claims in its latest incarnation to be DX10/OpenGL 3 compatible).
