This new blog post by a Mozilla colleague may be worth skimming, in relation to vendor-specific prefixes.
Bear in mind that most of this applies primarily to CSS prefixes, not API prefixes. API prefixes are very easy to deal with compared to CSS prefixes.
Unless there's a broader change in how prefixing is used on the web, I'd continue to recommend that WebGL follow the the rest of the web. (Which, again, isn't the same as how OpenGL uses prefixes.)
