OpenGL Adoption and Conformance Testing
Any company may freely use the publicly released OpenGL specification to create a product, but implementations of the OpenGL API must be tested for conformance in the Khronos OpenGL Adopters program before the OpenGL name or logo may be used in association with an implementation of the API.
Implementers may join the Khronos OpenGL Adopters Program which enables them to download and execute the OpenGL conformance tests and upload the results for peer review within Khronos. If the implementation successfully passes the tests, the Adopter is granted a royalty-free trademark license to use the OpenGL name and logo in association with that implementation - and they can refer to the implementation as being OpenGL conformant or OpenGL compliant.
Benefits of the OpenGL Adopters program:
- Access to the OpenGL 1.0 conformance test source code
- Participation in the OpenGL Adopters technical Mailing list - a private priority channel for two-way interaction with the OpenGL working group over the specification and conformance tests
- Conformant products may use the OpenGL name and logo
- Company listing on the Adopting Members and Conformant Products pages
