Tech Source, Inc. has announced a conduction cooled and rugged version of its Condor 3000x XMC processor targeted at general purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU) applications. The Condor 3000x-cc XMC card is based on the AMD RadeonTM E6760 AIB. With 576 GFLOPs of peak single precision floating point performance and 480 individual processing units (shaders), the Condor 3000 graphics processor is particularly well suited for highly parallel computations and other GPGPU applications such as image analysis, radar, sonar, and video surveillance.

At Google I/O ZiiLABS, in co-operation with Symphony Teleca, demonstrated how OpenCL can be used to deliver significant compute acceleration on Android platforms. The tablet demonstration of a new camera application, built by Symphony Teleca, uses OpenCL to implement a number of key image processing effects, comparing the performance of the algorithms implemented in both 'C' and OpenCL. The OpenCL code exploits the performance and flexibility of the underlying ZMS-40's media processing array to deliver significant advantages over CPU-only code.

Case Study: heat transfer simulation using CLGL interop

Heat transfer and, more generally, parabolic partial differential equations are a very important class of problems in physics and mathematics. Analytic solutions aren't available for real-world problems where initial and boundary conditions can be arbitrary. CMSoft presents video tutorials and source code with detailed information about how to create the CLGL shared context, use OpenCL to accelerate the simulation of heat transfer and share an OpenGL texture to present the results to the user.
