Khronos OpenCL Slide Presentations and Tutorials from Hotchips 2009 Now Online

The Khronos Group hosted a series of OpenCL tutorials at the Hotchips 2009 event in August on high performance chips. All of these OpenCL tutorials are now online in the Khronos Developers Library. Included are tutorials from AMD, EA, Intel, Nokia, NVIDIA, and of course the Khronos Group.

Intel unveils OpenGL ES 2.0 capabable System-on-Chip for Internet Televisions

Intel Corp. unveiled the Atom CE4100 media chip at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2009. The CE4100 provides MPEG-4 support, 3D graphics, can capture uncompressed 1080p video, offers high-end audio, has a built in NAND controller and support DDR2 and DDR3 memory. The new chip provides full support for OpenGL ES 2.0 and Flash 10, providing a great environment for Flash based games, video and rich web content. A short video featurette is available at ZDNet.

Intel extends OpenCL support with today’s announcement of an update to the Intel® OpenCL SDK alpha version on WhatIf.intel.com. This update release brings full coverage of the OpenCL 1.1 standard to the Intel® CoreTM processors, and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit applications on windows based operation systems.

Intel announced Intel® OpenCL SDK version 1.1 beta conformant with OpenCL™ 1.1 specification. New version includes an alpha preview of SDK implementation for Linux* operating systems. Anjuta Project Wizards for AMD, NVidia and Intel OpenCL SDK

Aiming at increasing the OpenCL developing, I created some wizards to start up an OpenCL application project using the SDK from NVidia, AMD or Intel. I've used Anjuta DevStudio on Linux. There is a lack of OpenSource IDE and tools to develop GPU applications, these wizards help us to create OpenCL applications based on templates and, thus, to decrease the learning curve.

Intel released today the gold version of the Intel OpenCL SDK 1.1 for the CPU on www.intel.com/go/opencl. This SDK is conformant with the OpenCL 1.1 specification. Intel Sandy Bridge driver updates bring OpenGL and WebGL fixes

Intel updated their Sandy Bridge drivers at IDF. Intel has refreshed its generic Sandy Bridge graphics driver to version 15.22.50.2509 for 32-bit Windows Vista and 7 and version 15.22.50.64.2209 for 64-bit Windows Vista and 7. some of the fixes include are WebGL rendering problems in Firefox and Chrome, and various OpenGL enhancements. V3 has a clean and concise roundup from this years SC11. In a nut shell, SC11 brought questions and answers to the looming exascale supercomputing promise. Intel presented Knight's Corner chips clocking in at 1TB in benchmarks; NVIDIA brought OpenACC which is backed by partners such as Cray and Oak Ridge National Laboratory; AMD and Cray pick up where IBM dropped out with an announced a deal to provide a petaflop-scale scientific analysis cluster for the University of Illinois; and the Khronos Group announced another milestone for OpenCL, bringing the version up to 1.2.
