After winning the Silver Medal for the TenLinks Best of Show for Autodesk University 2014, CL3VER has now won the Architosh “Best of SHOW” award at AIA Atlanta 2015. This confirms CL3VER as a key and emerging technology that will have a large impact on architectural practice and AEC workflows. In the words of the prize jury “CL3VER was really the application that encapsulated this pivot point of things to come: A very disruptive platform leveraging ubiquitous HTML5 and WebGL through a very seamless web UI…” Congratulations CL3VER!

Goo Technologies creates HTML 5 high-end graphics for games and interactive visualizations on the Web and is the company behind the Goo Engine. The findings of their 2013 State of Browser Gaming Index are out, and guess what, over half of americans play browser based games. This bodes well for WebGL. Goo Technologies is a web technology company whose aim is to make all digital experiences instantly available on all devices, everywhere using HTML5 and WebGL.

Powder Tracks is a WebGL application that demonstrates the synchronization of HTML5 video with GPS tracking data in a zero footprint virtual globe. No downloads or plugins are required. Additional highlights include streaming Bing imagery, streaming high resolution (10 meter) terrain, terrain slope overlay imagery and a dynamic metadata display.

World Wide Maze is a pretty basic ball-rolling game, but at it’s core is something quite interesting. The first is a link to the mobile version of Chrome that turns your smartphone into a PC game controller. The second is of course that World Wide Maze works off the WebGL standard, and it requires pretty decent system specs for a browser game, including 1GB of RAM and a 256MB graphics card for hardware acceleration.

Among graphics enthusiasts there is a certain amount of debate on what API/version of something to use with a bunch of hotly contested alternatives. Florian Boesch, self proclaimed tinkerer of 3d things has written a convincing article on why you should give WebGL a try.

Rightware introduces Browsermark 2.0. Browsermark is a free to use benchmark designed to measure and compare the performance of any browser on any internet enabled device. In addition to measuring general browsing functionality such as page loading and conformance testing for HTML5 and network speed, Browsermark 2.0 tests your browser with WebGL, Canvas, HTML5, and CSS3/3D. You can test your browser right here, right now, with Rightware.

Sven Andersson and Jhonny Göransson from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology recently posted their masters thesis on Virtual Texturing with WebGL online. This thesis investigates how to implement Virtual Texturing for web browsers using WebGL and how to maintain high performance.

We’re excited to announce the kick off of our Pokki 1UP $50k HTML5 game development challenge. The first place game developer will take home $30k and win a trip to the Game Developers Conference 2012 in San Francisco where we will feature their game! We’ve pulled together a top notch panel of game developer leaders to judge submissions which must be submitted by February 20th, 2012 at 11:59pm (PST). What’s also cool is that we just launched support for WebGL, WebSockets, and the Web Audio API. We’re really excited about cutting edge HTML5 technologies like canvas, CSS3, WebGL and Web Audio. There’s already been some impressive demos with these technologies and we’re looking forward to seeing what the Pokki game developers come up with.

With the launch of My Robot Nation almost anyone can now go online and create the droid of their dreams. My Robot Nation is from Kodama Studios, a Silicon Valley startup founded by two longtime video game industry veterans. The service offers a chance to craft your own robot design and have it quickly 3D printed and delivered to your door. The service uses WebGL, and since WebGL is integrated with the latest HTML technology, we can provide you with a seamless creation experience, meaning that the robot you see on your screen is just like the one you will receive in the mail. If you want to learn more about how My Robot Nation uses WebGL, they will be the guest speaker at the San Francisco WebGL MeetUp this Thursday October 27th. Learn more about My Robot Nation and let us know what you think.
