Mobica has joined the Khronos Group. Mobica is a British company focused on providing solutions to consumer electronics, automotive and industrial markets, with R&D centres in the UK, Poland and California. The NBody sample by Intel features a load balancing approach to compute an NBody simulation across both the CPU and Intel HD Graphics. This sample illustrates how to maximize the efficiency of the processor by being able to use both the CPU and Intel HD Graphics simultaneously on a platform. The end result is not only being the sum of the performance on both devices, but also largely improving application power performance on platforms such as Ultrabook. The London UK WebGL Meetup is pleased to have Peter O'Shaughnessy speaking from Pearson. He will speak on WebGL. Peter will introduce WebGL, the powerful graphics API for the Web, for the rest of us. He'll show how you can quickly get going using the open source Three.js library. And he'll show some of the best examples from around the Web along the way. Intel shared plans early on that they want OpenGL ES 3.0 for Mesa by early 2013 with the next Mesa release. OpenGL ES 3.0 has a lot of new features over the aging OpenGL ES 2.0 specification, which makes it a really worthwhile upgrade. As part of this, Intel has been working on ETC2 texture compression and other functionality for this open-source Linux graphics driver. Ian Romanick of Intel has now shared on the Mesa mailing list that in the coming days he will begin to post the GLES3 patches for review and then merge them into mainline Mesa.

Version 1.0.0 of the free open-source, cross-platform 3D application framework PixelLight has been released. We're using OpenGL as well as GLSL within our main-renderer and OpenGL ES 2.0 for Android. The primary focus of this release was on quality assurance. On the graphics side, tesselation as well as instancing support was added to the rendering system. Further we added the capability of rendering volume data.
