Khronos Group member StreamComputing is offering an “OpenCL Crash Course.” Find out if OpenCL is the right choice for your project in this one day OpenCL course. This course will enable you to quickly assess the technology without a big investment.

Get Hands-on with Mobile Graphics! “An Introduction to Mobile Graphics” are one day workshops offered by Imagination Technologies in North London. At Universities, graphics technologies are generally taught as part of game development or the computer science curriculum, and are based on standard console or PC graphics. Since mobile devices are becoming increasingly popular, it is important that developers also understand the specific constraints of mobile devices where power-efficient rendering is a must. Imagination is partnering with Darren McKie (games and graphics programme leader at the University of Hull) to organize a workshop designed to introduce real-time rendering using OpenGL ES on mobile devices to students who have little or no prior experience with 3D graphics programming.

Imagination Technologies announces a new offering as part of its Imagination University Programme (IUP) that provides the first complete teaching course on mobile graphics. “An Introduction to Mobile Graphics” includes a rich set of teaching materials and practical exercises that leverage Imagination’s popular PowerVR graphics processors (GPUs). The new course has been developed so that little to no previous knowledge of graphics is required, and the content is adaptable to fit most teaching methods and structures. This introductory course is based around OpenGL ES 2.0, the most widely deployed and adopted mobile graphics API.

An open source two-day lecture course for teaching and learning OpenCL has now been downloaded over 3000 times. This KITE initiative carried out by Simon McIntosh-Smith and Tom Deakin from the University of Bristol in the UK is expecting a small update in the new year, when some more advanced material on code optimisation will be added. Simon said “I would have expected hundreds, and anything over 1,000 would have been awesome. But 3,000!!! I am stunned.”

There will be five courses offered at Siggraph 2012 that relate to Khronos Technologies. Starting on August 5th followed by one course each day, there will be “Introduction to Modern OpenGL”, “Virtual Texturing in Software and Hardware”, “Beyond Programmable Shading”, “GPU Shaders for OpenGL 4.x” and finally on August 9th “Graphics Programming for the Web.” See all Khronos related events at Siggraph 2012 on the Khronos Group Siggraph event page.

CAPS, the Many-core Programming Company, a leading provider of software and solutions for HPC Community will be offering two 2 day courses this March 13-14 and 15-16. The first course offers an introduction to parallelism with MPI and OpenMP. The second course will cover the basics of OpenCL. 50 computing hours on a hybrid cluster will be offered to each participant at no extra cost.

DMP has announced a new two day getting start GLSL Programming training course on December 21st and 22nd 2011. This course introduces the world of programmable pipeline by explaining basic topics of the GLSL(OpenGL Shading Language) which is a core feature of OpenGL ES 2.x and OpenGL 2.x. The course is offered in Japan in Japanese.
