PowerVR Series6 passes OpenGL ES 3.0 conformance

Imagination’s PowerVR Series6 GPU technologies have now achieved full conformance with the latest version of OpenGL ES, marking another major milestone for this family of efficient, low power GPU IP cores which have been among the first OpenGL ES 3.0-conformant graphics cores to ship in consumer products. OpenGL ES 3.0 is the first update to OpenGL ES since 2004, bringing new features to the mobile standard that were previously only available on the desktop-oriented OpenGL 3.3 and 4.2. Khronos has kept backwards compatibility with OpenGL ES 2.0 but introduced new capabilities within the rendering pipeline, extended the list of texture formats, updated the GLSL ES shading language, and enhanced texturing functionality and efficiency, among other enhancements.

Intel’s open source graphics driver goes mobile with OpenGL ES 3.0

Intel submitted a branch of the 3D graphics open source driver (Mesa), and is certified for compliance to the OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Graphics specification for the 3rd Generation Intel Core platform. This specification is expected to be used by many mobile Linux based operating systems in the near future.

Altera SDK for OpenCL is First in Industry to Achieve Khronos Conformance for FPGAs

Altera announced that its SDK for OpenCL is conformant to the OpenCL 1.0 standard and is now included on the Khronos Group list of OpenCL conformant products. Altera is the only company to offer an FPGA-optimized OpenCL solution, allowing software developers to harness the massively parallel architecture of an FPGA for system acceleration. Altera will demonstrate its OpenCL solutions at the 2013 Linley Processor Conference, being held October 16-17 in Santa Clara, Calif.

Khronos Launches OpenCL 2.0 Adopters Program

The Khronos Group today announced the availability of the official conformance test suite for the OpenCL 2.0 specification, making it possible for implementers to certify that their implementations are officially conformant thorough the Khronos OpenCL Adopters Program. Khronos has also released a set of header files for OpenCL 2.0 and an updated specification with a number of clarifications and corrections to the specification first released in November 2013. The specification, header files and links to the Khronos Adopters site and feedback forums are available online.
