SIGGRAPH is next week! The conference is July 28-August 1. For those going, Khronos will be hosting several Birds of a Feather sessions. For all those folks that will not be present, we will be offering live streaming of all our sessions (glTF, WebGL, OpenXR and Vulkan) on the Khronos Group YouTube Channel, and will follow up with recorded video the following week. The Khronos Group is excited to officially kick off their first 3D Commerce Birds of a Feather (BOF), where they will discuss their efforts to align the retail industry’s 3D assets and specifications to optimize workflows and minimize distribution costs in the retail sector. The BOF will provide insight into the goals and directions of the 3D Commerce group so that interested parties can judge if they want to get involved. Join and help Khronos lead a disruptive change in terms of product digitalization and pushing e-commerce to the next level!
The Khronos Group was in Japan this week for SIGGRAPH Asia 2018. There were five BOF sessions covering Vulkan, OpenXR, WebGL, glTF, NNEF, OpenVX and OpenCL. Most of the presentations from these sessions is now online and we have lots of photos as well. Unfortunately not video this year.
Planning on attending SC’18 in Dallas this week? Be sure to attend the BOF by Michael Wong of CodePlay on Tuesday at 5:15pm. He will be discussising C++ frameworks for parallel programming, including SYCL. More details on his talk are on the Khronos event page.

The Khronos Group has posted their Birds of a Feather schedule online. If you will be at #SIGGRAPH2017 be sure to visit the BOF Blitz and After Party! BOFs include: OpenVX, NNEF, OpenCL and SYCL; COLLADA; glTF; WebGL; OpenXR; and Vulkan, OpenGL & OpenGL ES to wrap up the day. glTF has just posted their list of speakers, and what a line they have for you in store for you. At the end of the day, be sure to hang around for the BOF Blitz After-Party. The BOFs will be live streamed with video available afterwards, and t-shirts available online, for all those folks not attending.
Khronos will be on the west side of the SC15 hall in booth #285. Technical experts will be available to answer your questions and there will be OpenCL 2.1 and SYCL reference guides to give away. The Khronos BOF “Flocking Together: Experience the Diverse OpenCL Ecosystem” starts off with an overview of the OpenCL 2.1 C++ kernel language, the SYCL 2.1 abstraction layer, and SPIR. Following the presentation, attendees are invited to bring their code and their toughest questions. Attendees will have the opportunity to experiment with implementations and tools from multiple vendors across several platforms. The BoF session is geared for those experienced with OpenCL, it will also provide an opportunity for newcomers to ask questions both basic and technical of our experts from the OpenCL working group as well as those from various participating vendors. Be sure to visit the Khronos DevU tutorial “Portable programs for heterogeneous computing: a hands-on introduction” on Monday November 16th. Khronos has posted the Siggraph 2009 COLLADA BOF presentation slides and the OpenGL BOF presentation slides. The OpenGL BOF slides include an overview on OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES, WebGL, GLSL and gDEBugger. The COLLADA slides include a COLLADA Conformance overview, COLLADA Vision, Project Wonderland, Sirikata—a next generation open source virtual world—and the COLLADA Contest Winners.
