ARM Reveals Cortex A12 With Malli T600 GPU, OpenGL ES 3.0 for Mid-Range Mobile

ARM has announced the Cortex-A12, a mid-range target solution, with support for OpenGL ES 3.0. The new CPU core design is meant to deliver a 40 percent performance bump over Cortex-A9 designs. As well, the Cortex-A12 includes an improved GPU, the Mali-T622, which packs support for the Mali-V500 video engine and OpenGL ES 3.0 standard.

Squid HEVC decoders using OpenCL on ARM Cortex A-Series cores

Squid Systems announced today that leading broadcast equipment maker Harmonic and mobile software solutions leader NXP Software are demonstrating HEVC decoders at IBC 2013 based on the highly efficient Squid HEVC software decoder. Squid HEVC decoders run on CPU and CPU+GPU using OpenCL for platforms based on ARM Cortex A-Series cores and the Intel Atom (mobile) and high quality encoders on multi-core X86 processors.

Vanguard Video announces OpenCL support for H.265/HEVC

At the International Broadcast Conference, Vanguard Video announced H.265/HEVC codecs for a broad range of hardware and software platforms, including x86, ARM, OpenCL GPU, and FPGA IP Cores. Vanguard Video is previewing an OpenCL GPU HEVC encoder accelerator that more than doubles the performance of the V.265 software encoder running on the main processor. This technology was demonstrated at the Intel booth.
