With the APP SDK 2.9 release and OpenCV 2.4.7 just around the corner, OpenCL is picking up even more momentum and making OpenCV even more attractive. OpenCV 2.4.7 expands the already significant capabilities of OpenCL, inside OpenCV. A very noteworthy addition is expanding the OpenCL implementation into the Machine Learning module, accelerating in OpenCL the Support Vector Machine functionality, and opening the door to multiple recognition and classification tasks. LibreOffice Lands A Ton Of GPU OpenCL Functions

MulticoreWare has been instrumental in help push more than fifty commits into the core code-base today for the LibreOffice open-source office suite. These commits are work on support for "GPU Calc" to take advantage of OpenCL for various math spreadsheet calculations. The OpenCL changes should be apart of the LibreOffice 4.2 release due out in late January or early February.

Blackmagic Design Ships DaVinci Resolve 10

Blackmagic Design today that the latest version of its flagship color-correction system, DaVinci Resolve 10, is now available for download. The software's OpenCL support makes Resolve 10 4K-ready. At IBC in September, AMD demonstrated Resolve's GPU-accelerated real-time playback capabilities when grading 4K CinemaDNG footage from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera with a single Resolve system running four AMD FirePro W-series graphics cards.

AMD released new versions of AMD CodeXL, Bolt and AMD APP SDK

The AMD CodeXL 1.3 release which includes many updates including remote GPU profiling and debugging. Bolt, an STL compatible C++ template library for creating data-parallel applications using C++ (no C++ AMP / OpenCL code required) has also been updated. AMD APP SDK has also been updated to v2.9. APP SDK 2.9 now includes 2 new features which are currently in Beta.
