Altera Corporation ALTR, -0.44% is demonstrating programmable logic-based security and system acceleration solutions for military grid communications, data centers, satellite communications and radar systems at MILCOM 2015 in Tampa, Florida, from October 26 to 28, 2015. Demonstrations from Altera and its ecosystem partners include the following technologies: A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) back-projection algorithm running on an Altera 20 nm Arria® 10 FPGA, using the Altera OpenCL SDK flow and hardened IEEE 754-compliant DSP blocks for radar back-end processing; Several complete cognitive radio solution demonstrations from front-end tactical handhelds/portables to rack-mount systems, using the RedHawk SDR architecture and hardware acceleration with an OpenCL flow.

The Processor SDK scales across TI's latest Sitara processors and digital signal processor (DSP) families, allowing customers to use TI's processor family across diverse sets of end products and offering simplified migration from one device to the next. An intuitive development environment with common graphical navigation, tools and utilities across devices makes it easier for developers to find reference software, tools, documentation and training. The Processor SDK is built on the foundation of a mainline long-term stable (LTS) Linux kernel, U-Boot, Yocto Project-compatible file system and Linaro tool chain to supply a robust foundation for faster development optimized for embedded applications.

Facebook’s new SDK for Unity v7.1 provides the opportunity for Unity developers to better integrate their games with Facebook. The new update includes full support for Unity 5, support for the new WebGL build target and Facebook’s latest native mobile SDKs with new tools and features. The Facebook SDK for Unity complements Unity’s cross-platform support, providing a pure-Unity write-once, run-everywhere experience across the gaming platforms of WebGL, Unity Web Player, Android and iOS.

AMD announced the release of APP SDK 3.0 supporting OpenCL 2.0. AMD APP SDK 3.0 adds support for Windows 10 as well as AMD’s latest 6th generation AMD A-series processors, Radeon R9 series graphics cards and FirePro W8100 and W9100 series graphics cards. AMD APP SDK 3.0 contains a complete set of sample code illustrating how to utilize each of the major new features of OpenCL 2.0. Some of these features are highlighted in the OpenCL 2.0 Demystified blog-series.

Valve and LunarG are working closely with Khronos to provide Vulkan developers with open source tools. These tools and first drivers are expected to be available for Vulkan developers during 2015. Valve is sponsoring LunarG to provide Open Source Tools, a prepackaged SDK, and technical support for Game Developers bringing their 3D engines to the new Vulkan API.

OpenCL support at Intel is now going mainstream with a full integration into Intel’s portfolio of software development suites. The Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications features are now integrated into various development tools under the new name of OpenCL Code Builder. The different solutions are tailored to the target development environment: for mobile and PC development, the OpenCL Code Builder is now integrated into Intel Integrated Native Developer Experience (Intel INDE); For media server usages, the code builder is now integrated into Intel Media Server Studio. For other usages, a standalone Linux* version of the OpenCL Code Builder is also available. Two major new features are now supported: Commercial OpenCL Linux driver for Intel Processor Graphics is available with Intel Media Server Studio; OpenCL 2.0 support for 5th Generation Intel Core Processors with fine-grained SVM on Intel HD and Iris Graphics is available in Intel INDE.

Offering OpenCL 2.0 support, and engineered to unlock new capabilities in AMD APUs and AMD Radeon GPUs based on GCN architecture, AMD Catalyst Omega special edition driver delivers enhanced capabilities, additional performance, and greater reliability. AMD has also made available a beta version of their APP SDK 3.0 which contains a complete set of sample code illustrating how to utilize each of the major new features of OpenCL 2.0.

Altera Corporation announced Electronics Weekly magazine selected the Altera SDK for OpenCL as its design tool of the year at the annual Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards gala in London. These accolades represent the latest in a series of awards and recognitions the Altera SDK for OpenCL has received since its release in 2012. Today, Altera offers the industry's only OpenCL-conformant solution that allows software programmers to easily implement OpenCL applications on FPGA accelerators.

The latest PowerVR SDK v3.4 includes several exciting new features, including the addition of the latest compilers for PowerVR Series6 (FP16 and FP32) and Series6XT GPUs to PVRShaderEditor, providing more up-to-date shader profiling. PVRShaderEditor also adds new functionality to access the GLSL disassembly for these compilers as well as full instruction set documentation for PowerVR Rogue GPUs. A new WebGL SDK has been included in the package.

Luxoft announced the creation of its Professional VP9 Codec Software Development Kit (SDK). Luxoft’s codec is designed to help video content providers, cloud servers, and live-streaming companies produce effective, real-time 4K/UltraHD encoding and video streaming. As a result of utilizing the OpenCL standard, the SDK also offers a significant time-to-market advantage for todays hardware architectures such including CPUs, GPUs, and heterogeneous computing systems. VP9 4K SDK is ready for beta evaluation.

Blue Marble Geographics announced the release of the Global Mapper Software Development Kit (SDK) version 15.2. This interim release features a significant improvement in the organization and quantity of online data, new functionality for transforming LiDAR point clouds, and support for several new 3D model file types, including COLLADA .dae format.

The latest version of Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications is now available to help developers to maximize platform performance with OpenCL and Intel Graphics. This new 2014 version provides a unified OpenCL development experience, new debugging capabilities, new remote development for Android, and preview support for SPIR 1.2 code generation and consumption. The SDK supports OpenCL on Intel's CPUs, Intel Graphics, and the Intel Xeon Phi.
