Jonathan Voudrie has a Bachelors degree in counseling, is in PTSD recovery, owns Oculus Rift, and is a Twitch streamer that sees the potential for VR technology to improve people’s lives. Read his interview on VR Fitness Insider, where he talks therapy, fitness and recommendations. When asked “Which causes, apps, companies, or individuals do you think are fighting the good fight in the virtual reality industry?” we were happy to see feels Khronos is on the right path with OpenXR. Thank you Jonathan!

This years Khronos Developer Day Sessions were the biggest yet, with over 1500 people attending. Most of the sessions were standing room only. Khronos would like to thank the attendees, the speakers, and the support staff who made this day possible. It’s not over yet! On Thursday night there will be a WebGL & glTF Meetup. And, if you were not able to make it to GDC this year, we’ve you covered as well. The presentations are online, video of the sessions will appear online later this week, and we have all your favourite Khronos Standards Merchandise for gals and guys available online.

Khronos held an OpenXR panel at the 2017 VRDC session (GDC) with developers Yuval Boger, Joe Ludwig, Kaye Mason, Paul Pedriana and Nick Whiting. The panel provided new updates on the goals, content and status of the effort to create a widely accepted VR API for developers called OpenXR. Learn more about OpenXR or watch the video on Youtube.

Khronos at VRDC Fall 2017 for OpenXR Panel

After announcing the OpenXR working group this year at GDC, Khronos members are working hard to bring the standard to life, while also educating the industry on the importance of this upcoming technology. This week, VRDC brings together creators and key influencers in the virtual and augmented reality industries for the latest technology demos and discussions on best practices. During the show in San Francisco, some of our members will join a panel to discuss OpenXR and fragmentation in the AR/VR/MR industry.
