If you are attending GDC 2019, be sure to mark March 19th in your calendar. Khronos will be hosting the annual Developer Day sessions in the Moscone West, Room 2020 from 10am to 6:30PM. This year there will be six (6) sessions covering glTF, WebGL, OpenXR, Vulkan and OpenGL ES. There will also be an OpenXR table at VRDC where you can learn more about OpenXR, talk with OpenXR working group members, and learn how your company can implement or join in the development of this important industry standard. The Khronos Group is once again sponsoring the WebGL/WebVR Meetup. Last year we had over 200 RSVPs and an amazing lineup of speakers. Join Khronos member Patrick Cozzi (Cesium) and other speakers for this gathering of the Silicon Valley WebGL/WebVR meetup group.
During the two weeks of October 17-26, Neil Trevett, president of the Khronos Group, will visit a few cities in China to speak at local conventions, universities and member companies. Khronos is looking forward to meeting with local Khronos members, academias and the developer community, to share the latest updates about Khronos APIs. A complete list of public talks at conferences and free public sessions & registration is now online.
Codeplay are pleased to announce that Andrew Richards, CEO & Founder, Charles Macfarlane, VP Marketing & Rod Burns, Developer Relations Manager, will be at this year's AutoSens in Brussels, exhibiting from 17th to 20th September. Codeplay will be there to discuss the use of open standards such as OpenCL and SYCL on heterogeneous processor solutions to enable the latest vision and machine learning applications for automotive.
At SIGGRAPH we’re excited to show the first demonstration of the OpenXR standard. It’ll be shown with a StarVR headset and a Microsoft Mixed Reality headset working through the OpenXR runtime through a plugin for Unreal Engine 4. The main demo will be at the Khronos BOF session: Standardizing All the Realities: A Look at OpenXR, at 1 p.m. on August 15, and another demo will be shown throughout the show at the StarVR booth (#412). Those interested in attending can see more information on our website.

All of the presentations from the 2018 Vulkan Developer Day in Montreal, are now online. Video for this event will be posted next week. Overall, the Vulkan Developer day was a huge success. In total more than 80 people attended!
Don’t miss this year’s OpenVX Workshop at Embedded Vision Summit. Khronos will present a day-long hands-on workshop all about OpenVX cross-platform neural network acceleration API for embedded vision applications. We’ve developed a new curriculum so even if you attended in past years, this is a do-not-miss, jam-packed tutorial with new information on computer vision algorithms for feature tracking and neural networks mapped to the graph API. We’ll be doing a hands-on practice session that gives participants a chance to solve real computer vision problems using OpenVX with the folks who created the API. We’ll also be talking about the OpenVX roadmap and what’s to come. Registration is now open. Early bird pricing ends April 10th.
Registration now open for the Khronos Standards for Neural Networks and Embedded Vision workshop at the Embedded Vision Summit in Santa Clara. Early bird pricing is now $99. This seminar is intended for engineers, researchers, and software developers who develop vision and neural network applications and want to benefit from transparent HW acceleration. Also, managers that want to get a general understanding of the structure and uses of Khronos standards.
The Khronos Group will be at GDC & VRDC 2018. Be sure to mark us in your calendar for the Khronos Dev Day on March 19th in Moscone, West Hall, Room 3022. This years sessions are now posted and include WebGL, glTF, OpenXR and Vulkan. Be sure to book mark the Khronos GDC event page and checkout some of our other upcoming events and meet ups.
The Khronos Group is holding an outreach event in Taipei to update the Taiwanese embedded industry on the latest developments in open standards for parallel computation, vision acceleration and neural network processing. The event will be held at the Taipei Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel on Friday January 19th, admission is free.
The Khronos Group presents Mastering the Khronos Blender glTF 2.0 Exporter webinar. Open to all, the webinar will be held online on October 24th at 10am. This 1-hour webinar will be presented by the people who developed the exporter, and we’ll of course end with a Q&A session. glTF 2.0 users and Blender developers are the target audience.
