Vivante Corporation announced the industry's first shipping products designed to support the Khronos Group's next generation OpenGL ES 3.0 API. Support of the new API will be offered in all GC Cores starting with the GC800 Series and higher. Vivante GC technology supporting OpenGL ES 3.0 can be found in Freescale's i.MX6 Quad application processor. Upcoming releases from Marvell's PXA and Armada product lines and other previously announced Vivante licensees will also support the latest API. Product is based on a published Khronos OpenGL ES 3.0 Specification, and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Testing Process. ARM has submitted their Mali-T604 graphics processing unit (GPU) for OpenCL 1.1 Full Profile conformance with The Khronos Group. This product is based on a published Khronos Specification, and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Testing Process.
OpenCOLLADA and the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite repositories are now both hosted on GitHub. As a reminder, please note that to bring integration of OpenCOLLADA plugins within the test suite and bug fixing, Khronos has issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ). This RFQ is open for bidding and you are welcome to request a copy through the public_collada mailing list. The COLLADA working group would like to share their progress since the March GDC meet-up on making COLLADA robust for the community. As requested by many community members, the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite (CTS) will be open sourced. Also, the OpenCOLLADA project will receive catalyst funding from Khronos to fix outstanding bugs and commence the integration of OpenCOLLADA into the open source test suite. Both the COLLADA CTS and OpenCOLLADA will be moving to Github. The COLLADA work group invites you to sign-up on the COLLADA public mailing list, and give your feedback.
Vivante Corporation today announced Vivante GC Cores passed the Khronos Group OpenCL 1.1 Embedded Profile (EP) conformance test suite on Freescale's i.MX 6 platform. The GC Cores use the latest programmable ScalarMorphic architecture to accelerate parallel data workloads on thousands of concurrent threads to achieve Gigaflops (GFLOPS) of computational performance. Applications taking advantage of Vivante cores to significantly speed-up processing includes image processing, computer vision, analytics, augmented reality and gesture-motion tracking.
The Khronos Group today announced the ratification and public release of the OpenCL 1.2 specification, providing enhanced performance and functionality to the industry-standard for heterogeneous, high-performance computing. A new conformance test suite was also made available to the developer community. New features in OpenCL 1.2 include seamless sharing of media and surfaces with DirectX® 9 and 11, enhanced image support, custom devices and kernels, device partitioning and separate compilation and linking of objects. The OpenCL 1.2 specifications, online reference pages and reference cards are all available on the Khronos website.
The COLLADA intermediate language specification is intended to standardize 3D data, but there’s a wide variation in the way applications work with COLLADA files. To help developers adhere to the standard and create 3D tools that work together seamlessly, the Khronos Group created the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite (CTS). The tutorial is available for download today as a PDF document. COLLADA has two levels of conformance tests, Adopters and the free Implementers tests. The implementers tests area freely available online.

AMD announced the Radeon E6760 embedded discrete graphics processor. The AMD Radeon E6760 GPU is the first of its kind to offer embedded system designers the combination of OpenCL support along with support for six independent displays. The Radeon E6760 is based on a published Khronos Specification, and is expected to pass the Khronos ConformanceTestingProcess. IBM released the OpenCL Development Kit for Linux on Power v0.3 and is available via alphaWorks. This updated offering is a fully conformant implementation of the OpenCL 1.1 specification. Other features of this release include a fully conformant implementation of the double precision extension, 32- and 64-bit atomic extensions, 64-bit application support, debugging improvements, as well as various performance improvements including full IBM POWER7* exploitation.
The Khronos™ Group today announced that it is making the COLLADA™ 1.4 Conformance Test Suite available free of charge to all developers. COLLADA is an open, XML-based industry standard that enables assets to be freely interchanged between 3D authoring applications which can then be mixed and matched in powerful combinations. The COLLADA test suite is a comprehensive set of over 500 detailed tests and a scripted framework that rigorously exercises applications that import and export COLLADA assets to ensure that they can reliably participate in a COLLADA-based toolchain.
