Axell will start production of the AG903, the latest product in the "AG9" series graphics LSI for embedded systems. As with existing products, it has strengths not only in functionality and performance, but also in the supply and support. It is the LSI for industrial devices used in the factory automation, measurement, and medical equipments, among others. The AG903 is in conformance with OpenVG 1.1 and uses the ARM Cortex-A5 for it's built in CPU.

Khronos Group issues RFQ to complete the OpenCL 2.2 conformance testsThe Khronos Group today issued a request for quotes to complete the OpenCL 2.2 conformance tests. The primary goal of this project is to enhance and expand the existing OpenCL 2.1 conformance tests to create an OpenCL 2.2 test suite to be used to define conformance for OpenCL 2.2 implementations. AMD has launched their new line of discrete Radeon M400 GPUs that are designed specifically for notebooks. The R9 and R7 M400 series offer support for both Vulkan and OpenGL 4.4. There is no mention of support for the R5 M400 series. Product is based on a published Khronos Specification and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Process. Core Avionics & Industrial Inc (“CoreAVI”) announced today the immediate availability of the industry’s first OpenGL SC 2.0 graphics driver. CoreAVI’s new product announcement coincides with the Khronos Group’s official release of the OpenGL SC 2.0 API specification that is developed specifically to address the unique and stringent safety requirements of high reliability display system markets, including avionics DO-178C and automotive ISO 26262 safety standards. Digital Media Professionals Inc announced that it has licensed the DMP GPU core, SMAPH-F, to Renesas Electronics Corporation, for its SoCs (system-on-chips) for office appliances. The DMP SMAPH-F is 2D Vector graphics IP core which is differentiated by its robust conformance to Khronos Group standards OpenVG and by its remarkably small silicon foot print which enables DMP licensees to maximize graphics performance delivered per square millimeter of silicon area and per mill watt of system power consumption.

Imagination Technologies announces that its PowerVR Rogue Series6 GPUs have achieved Khronos OpenVX 1.0.1 conformance. With OpenVX, developers can run fully optimized vision algorithms on highly parallel, power-efficient PowerVR GPUs that are used in many of the world’s leading smartphones, tablets and other products.

OpenVX 1.0.1 specification announcedThe Khronos Group today announced the ratification and public release of the OpenVX™ 1.0.1 specification, a maintenance update to the open, royalty-free standard for cross platform acceleration of computer vision applications. OpenVX 1.0.1 integrates bug fixes and clarifications resulting from feedback from working group members and the wider industry implementing and using the specification. OpenVX enables performance and power-optimized computer vision processing, especially important in embedded and real-time uses cases such as face, body and gesture tracking, smart video surveillance, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), object and scene reconstruction, augmented reality, visual inspection, robotics and more. In addition to the OpenVX conformance tests and Adopters Program launched in late 2014, Khronos is now shipping an open source, fully-conformant CPU-based implementation of OpenVX 1.0 that runs on Linux, Android or Windows. Xilinx SDAccel development environment for OpenCL, C, and C++, achieves Khronos ConformanceXilinx, Inc. announced that the SDAccel development environment for OpenCL, C, and C++ is now Khronos OpenCL 1.0 standard compliant. The OpenCL standard provides a uniform programming environment for software developers to write efficient, portable code enabling a rich range of algorithms to be easily accelerated on Xilinx FPGAs. SDAccel, the newest member of the SDx family, includes an architecturally optimizing compiler for OpenCL, C, and C++ and is proven to deliver up to 25X better performance/watt compared to CPUs or GPUs and 3X the performance and resource efficiency of other FPGA solutions.

The Khronos™ Group today announced the ratification and public release of updated OpenCL™ 2.0 and Provisional SYCL™ 1.2 specifications. The new specifications integrate feedback from the developer community, align with the latest C++ developments, and increase implementation consistency for improved portability of heterogeneous parallel applications. The latest OpenCL and SYCL specifications are open, royalty-free and available online.

OpenVX enables performance and power-optimized computer vision processing, especially important in embedded and real-time uses cases such as face, body and gesture tracking, smart video surveillance, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), object and scene reconstruction, augmented reality, visual inspection, robotics and more. In addition to the OpenVX specification, Khronos has developed a full set of conformance tests and an Adopters Program, that enables implementers to test their implementations and use the OpenVX trademark if conformant. Khronos plans to ship an open source, fully-conformant CPU-based implementation of OpenVX 1.0 before the end of 2014. The new version of Internet Explorer IE11 improves WebGL performance and adds support for instancing extension, 16-bit textures, GLSL builtin variables, and triangle fans. Microsoft notes its Khronos WebGL Conformance Test score has improved from 93 percent to 97 percent.
