Remograph, providers of products and services for the computer graphics, visual simulation and 3D modeling markets, announced the release of Remo 3D v2.10. Remo 3D is an effective OpenGL-based tool for creating and modifying 3D models intended for realtime visualization. The primary file format is OpenFlight. Remo 3D is currently available for Microsoft Windows 10/8/7 and Linux. This new version 2.10 of Remo 3D brings support for more keyboard shortcuts, improved macro handling, setting of relative external reference paths and other various fixes. The full list of new features and improvements can be found in the release notes on our website.
In this academic paper, the API employed for geovisualization use Web Graphics Library (WebGL), a cross-platform and royalty-free web standard for a low-level graphics API, designed and maintained by the non-profit Khronos Group. The implementation of the standard is a JavaScript API for rendering interactive 2D and 3D graphics within a web browser without a plug-in as the API closely conforms to Open Graphics Library for Embedded Systems (OpenGL ES) that can be used in Hypertext Markup Language 5 (HTML5) canvas elements
OpenCOLLADA 1.6.65 now has the addition of Max 2019 target for openCollada. This version provides the 2019 Max plugin. All version the from 2011 are still maintained and available.
Recently Khronos posted a guest blog ‘Art Pipeline for glTF’ by Patrick Ryan from Microsoft. This covered getting started with authoring content to glTF. A little more in-depth is a post by Don McCurdy on ‘Creating animated glTF Characters with Mixamo and Blender’. The post walks the reader through their workflow using Blender, Mixamo to rig, animate, and export a character to glTF.
Remograph, providers of products and services for the computer graphics, visual simulation and 3D modeling markets, announced the release of Remo 3D v2.7. Remo 3D is an effective OpenGL-based tool for creating and modifying 3D models intended for realtime visualization. The primary file format is OpenFlight. Remo 3D is currently available for Microsoft Windows 10/8/7 and Linux. OpenCOLLADA for Maya 2018 on Windows 64 has been released. Version 1.6.59 was released on August 30th for Max 2018. Binaries are now provided for Max and Maya in versions: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018. If you find any issues, please contribute on the OpenCOLLADA Github repository.
The Khronos Group held their annual BOF-Blitz at SIGGRAPH today. There were five BOFs in all, and they were all a huge success. If you were not able to get to SIGGRAPH and you missed the live stream, you can now watch the video online here.
This post from Don McCurdy will walk through the process of exporting an animated glTF 2.0 model from Maya LT. The workflow includes Maya LT, FBX Converter, Blender and the Blender glTF exporter. Since Blender cannot import recent versions of FBX, the workflow also uses COLLADA as an intermediate format.
glTF support has landed! This is an early, but more performant alternative to COLLADA and OBJ formats, and we’ll likely see it becoming heavily adopted in WebVR.
COLLADA has had support for embedding physics information into a document for a long time but it has never been easy to take advantage of. Adding NVIDIA PhysX Maya plugin and openCOLLADA plugin together makes physics export much more practical.
This tool converts COLLADA (.dae) models or OBJ models to glTF for use with Cesium. You may upload one at a time or multiple models with drag and drop. You can also select a single zip file containing both model and textures or drag and drop them together onto the canvas below. Once uploaded, a self-contained glTF file will be downloaded and a model preview will be shown below.
At Adobe Max: The Creativity Conference, Adobe confirmed that they will be providing enhanced 3D support for Photoshop CC, including the ability to read COLLADA rigging and animation data. COLLADA Rigging Support: Users can import animation and rigging data from COLLADA files, and continue to paint, finish or refine 3D objects. You can also leverage the existing animation data and Photoshop Timeline to create promotional videos.
Remcom announces a new version of Wireless InSite, its site-specific radio propagation software for the analysis of wireless communication systems. This version, Release 2.8, supports the import of KMZ and COLLADA geometry files. The ability to import and create KMZ (.kmz) and COLLADA (.dae) geometry files is particularly useful for adding single structures, such as bridges, high resolution buildings, or new construction to a scene. These structures are often missing from urban geometry data.
Toon Boom Animation Inc. announced the release of Storyboard Pro 5. This new release streamlines the pre-production and storyboarding process with new creative tools for artists, adds improvements to the 3D workflow, and provides better integration with editorial. Storyboard Pro 5 has also been improved in order to enable pre-production pipelines for CG, live action and games cinematics. Some of the new features include better integration between 2D and 3D with the ability to snap 3D models to surfaces, create layers on models, import COLLADA and Alembic files and work with a more responsive 3D camera.
Limitless Computing announced SightSpace Pro, a cloud-based and mobile solution that makes it possible to view 3D digital models and designs in the form of real-life buildings using Augmented Reality technology. The new SightSpace Pro works seamlessly with the most popular modeling and design file formats including Autodesk .DWG and .DXF, Trimble SketchUp (.SKP), Collada (.DAE), .DGN, .KMZ, and .KML.
