It's been an incredible week hasn't it? The latest news about OpenGL rendering Zombies faster than Direct3D really got the twittersphere going! SimLab Composer 2013 adds WebGL export capability and ARM has submitted the Mali-T604 GPU for full profile OpenCL conformance. Back on the Khronos front, COLLADA still has room for you to come on over and show off your COLLADA demo at Siggraph, and we've also updated the official Khronos Siggraph event page with updated BOF schedules, and lots more sponsors for the OpenGL Party! COLLADA digital asset schema specification for 3D visualization of industrial data has just been published as ISO/PAS 17506:2012 by the International Organization for Standardization.

OpenCOLLADA and the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite repositories are now both hosted on GitHub. As a reminder, please note that to bring integration of OpenCOLLADA plugins within the test suite and bug fixing, Khronos has issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ). This RFQ is open for bidding and you are welcome to request a copy through the public_collada mailing list. Last but not least, while at Siggraph, do not forget to stop by our both and to bring your demos! The COLLADA working group looks forward to hearing from you!
The COLLADA working group would like to share their progress since the March GDC meet-up on making COLLADA robust for the community. As requested by many community members, the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite (CTS) will be open sourced. Also, the OpenCOLLADA project will receive catalyst funding from Khronos to fix outstanding bugs and commence the integration of OpenCOLLADA into the open source test suite. Both the COLLADA CTS and OpenCOLLADA will be moving to Github. The COLLADA work group invites you to sign-up on the COLLADA public mailing list, and give your feedback.
The COLLADA files loader in Minko 2 now provides much faster parsing times. Tests show some of files now take up to 10 times less time to load. You can now load 100+MB *.DAE files containing 600 000 polygons and more, including animations. Another important addition is that we now parse a lot more data about the materials. We are now able to load material values such as the reflectivity, shininess and more to make it easier for the artists to customize the rendering using their favorite CAO tool.

Did you miss the WebGL Meetup we held along side GDC last week? No worries, we recorded the entire meetup, and have posted it in four parts on YouTube (part one, two, three) and as podcasts. With Tony Parisi as moderator, the WebGL meetup covered lots of ground, including a spec update, lots of demo's and a security corner with Ken Russell from Google.
