If you are an Artist, Technical Director or Software Programmer interested in content creation and mixed tool pipelines in any 3D application field (game, film, CAD, visualization, etc.) then this is a must attend session for you. Geared toward a multitude of production environments in both the 2D and 3D realms, Poser Pro offers the features and functionality of Poser 7 plus professional level application integration, a 64 bit render engine, and network rendering support. Poser Pro now supports the COLLADA exchange format for content production, pre-visualization, gaming and film production, and offers the ability to fully host Poser scenes in professional applications such as Maxon's CINEMA 4D, Autodesk's 3ds Max and Maya, and Newtek's Lightwave. Other features include increased support for Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended (via COLLADA) and export of HDR imagery.

Many authoring packages have now added support for importing and exporting COLLADA assets including: Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended, Agency9 MADLIX, Anark Core Platform, Caligari trueSpace 7.5, DAZ Productions DAZ|Studio 1.7, E Frontier Poser 7, Google Sketchup 6, NVIDIA FX Composer 2, Omegame Menus Master, Remograph Remo3D 1.3.1, Terathon C4 Game Engine and Wordweaver DX Studio 2.0.4. In addition the Khronos COLLADA working group has initiated extending COLLADA to include 2D vector graphics assets, such as high quality fonts, enabling authoring of user interfaces and scenes that seamlessly mix 2D and 3D assets in a unified geometry and effects environment.
Bitmanagement - a Siggraph exhibitor at Web3D both #029 - will showcase at this years computer graphics premiere event the newly developed support of the popular COLLADA 3D exchange format in their web based 3D rendering engine BS Contact. NVIDIA today announced the release of FX Composer 2.0. FX Composer is a powerful integrated development environment for shader authoring. With support for DirectX and OpenGL, HLSL, COLLADA FX, and CgFX, as well as .fbx, .x, .3ds, .obj, and .dae formats, FX Composer provides true API cross-platform functionality. The widely used FX Composer tools permit rapid, low-cost development of visual effects.
eyeon Software Inc has announced an update to its compositing application, Fusion. Support for the OFX plug-in format was announced at NAB in April and, now with Fusion 5.2’s plug-in capabilities that support the native Fusion API, the After Effects API and the OFX API, Fusion hosts the broadest selection of third party plug-in functionality, according to Eyeon. The release of Fusion 5.2 includes over one hundred updates and modifications. 3D scene importing allows artists to import more 3D data and animation in FBX, 3DS, OBJ and COLLADA.dae formats. 3D LUTs are now supported in real time, accelerated via GPUs.
Papervision3D is an open source 3D engine for the Flash platform that utilizes COLLADA. The creators of Papervision3D have finally been able to sit down and merge a lot of code and clean up some major work under the hood with Papervision3D! This version of the engine has seen a 40% plus increase in speed! The API didn’t change a bit, and we added some new features like culling and InteractiveScene3D with Interactive materials. The CS3 Papervision3D component was also updated today.
