NVIDIA today announced the release of FX Composer 2.0. FX Composer is a powerful integrated development environment for shader authoring. With support for DirectX and OpenGL, HLSL, COLLADA FX, and CgFX, as well as .fbx, .x, .3ds, .obj, and .dae formats, FX Composer provides true API cross-platform functionality. The widely used FX Composer tools permit rapid, low-cost development of visual effects.
eyeon Software Inc has announced an update to its compositing application, Fusion. Support for the OFX plug-in format was announced at NAB in April and, now with Fusion 5.2’s plug-in capabilities that support the native Fusion API, the After Effects API and the OFX API, Fusion hosts the broadest selection of third party plug-in functionality, according to Eyeon. The release of Fusion 5.2 includes over one hundred updates and modifications. 3D scene importing allows artists to import more 3D data and animation in FBX, 3DS, OBJ and COLLADA.dae formats. 3D LUTs are now supported in real time, accelerated via GPUs.
Papervision3D is an open source 3D engine for the Flash platform that utilizes COLLADA. The creators of Papervision3D have finally been able to sit down and merge a lot of code and clean up some major work under the hood with Papervision3D! This version of the engine has seen a 40% plus increase in speed! The API didn’t change a bit, and we added some new features like culling and InteractiveScene3D with Interactive materials. The CS3 Papervision3D component was also updated today.

MADLIX lets users insert 3D-content in web pages, blogs, Google pages, community presentations and more. MADLIX uses OpenGL and runs with all Java enabled webrowser. The updated MADLIX site features a new and improved 3D viewer with model preview, faster loading and Facebook integration. In Facebook users can share models using the MADLIX 3D-wall. The content pipeline has been updated with an on-line publisher available for all Java enabled platforms supporting the COLLADA 1.4.1 specification.
