COLLADA has had support for embedding physics information into a document for a long time but it has never been easy to take advantage of. Adding NVIDIA PhysX Maya plugin and openCOLLADA plugin together makes physics export much more practical.
This tool converts COLLADA (.dae) models or OBJ models to glTF for use with Cesium. You may upload one at a time or multiple models with drag and drop. You can also select a single zip file containing both model and textures or drag and drop them together onto the canvas below. Once uploaded, a self-contained glTF file will be downloaded and a model preview will be shown below.
At Adobe Max: The Creativity Conference, Adobe confirmed that they will be providing enhanced 3D support for Photoshop CC, including the ability to read COLLADA rigging and animation data. COLLADA Rigging Support: Users can import animation and rigging data from COLLADA files, and continue to paint, finish or refine 3D objects. You can also leverage the existing animation data and Photoshop Timeline to create promotional videos.

Remcom announces a new version of Wireless InSite, its site-specific radio propagation software for the analysis of wireless communication systems. This version, Release 2.8, supports the import of KMZ and COLLADA geometry files. The ability to import and create KMZ (.kmz) and COLLADA (.dae) geometry files is particularly useful for adding single structures, such as bridges, high resolution buildings, or new construction to a scene. These structures are often missing from urban geometry data.

Toon Boom Animation Inc. announced the release of Storyboard Pro 5. This new release streamlines the pre-production and storyboarding process with new creative tools for artists, adds improvements to the 3D workflow, and provides better integration with editorial. Storyboard Pro 5 has also been improved in order to enable pre-production pipelines for CG, live action and games cinematics. Some of the new features include better integration between 2D and 3D with the ability to snap 3D models to surfaces, create layers on models, import COLLADA and Alembic files and work with a more responsive 3D camera.
Limitless Computing announced SightSpace Pro, a cloud-based and mobile solution that makes it possible to view 3D digital models and designs in the form of real-life buildings using Augmented Reality technology. The new SightSpace Pro works seamlessly with the most popular modeling and design file formats including Autodesk .DWG and .DXF, Trimble SketchUp (.SKP), Collada (.DAE), .DGN, .KMZ, and .KML.
COLLADA already supports exchanging shaders between 3D tools, however some applications and game engines are not capable of exporting and importing shaders to and from the COLLADA .dae format. This COLLADA tutorial will walk you through the steps supported Cinema 4D.
glTF is an up and coming format for transmitting 3D models, tailored for WebGL and OpenGL they like to think of it as a 3D model codec. There's three.js and Node.js support, as well as a COLLADA and separate FBX converter. There's more explanation of glTF in the presentation at the WebGL BOF. Compression progress here, discussion here. Special thanks to Patrick Cozzi and the folks over at Real-Time Rendering Blog.
Cesium uses the web-friendly glTF format for 3D models. Cesium provides an online COLLADA-to-glTF converter that allows us to drag and drop a COLLADA model and its textures to produce a glTF model for use in Cesium. This blog post is a series of tips for authoring 3D models and then exporting them to COLLADA to get the best performance and robustness.
