NVIDIA is rolling out the world’s first production Vulkan drivers today as part of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to SHIELD Android TV. This makes SHIELD Android TV the first consumer platform with production installed Vulkan drivers – making it an ideal platform for Android developers to get easy access to this new-generation graphics API This continues NVIDIA’s rollout of Vulkan drivers across multiple platforms, including Windows 7-10, desktop and embedded Linux and now Android.
Erik Noreke, Khronos Group VP of Business Development and Work Group Chair of both OpenSL ES and OpenMAX AL, will be talking at the upcoming Wearable and Flexible Technologies World (WFTW) 2014 conference in Shanghai China. WFTW 2014 is the second annual Global Augmented Reality Summit and focuses on wearable technologies, including flexible electronics and augmented reality technologies.

Following the meetings in Taipei and Hsinchu in February2012, the Khronos Group will once again return to Taiwan in early June. Visiting the National Taiwan University and National Tsing Hua University, Khronos will hold a series of public educational activities and business meetings. In order to further communication and interaction with local Taiwanese businesses, the meetings will be open to the public. The Khronos Group will have a lot of exciting information to discuss and is looking forward to the enthusiastic participation of the Pan-Pacific region.

The Khronos Group is hosting a series of DevUs, educational sessions, Member F2F meetings and news conferences aimed at the educational community. The Khronos Pan Pacific Road Show 2012 is devoted to the Pan Pacific region with a focus on education and training, OpenGL and OpenGL ES, OpenCL, WebGL, WebCL OpenVG, OpenSL ES and OpenMAX.
