The new gDEBugger V4.5 adds the ability to view texture mipmap levels. Each texture mipmap level’s parameters and data (as an image or raw data) can be displayed in the gDEBugger Texture and Buffers viewer. Browse the different mipmap levels using the Texture Mipmap Level slider. gDEBugger V4.5 further introduces support of 1D and 2D texture arrays. The new Textures and Buffers viewer Texture Layer slider enables viewing the contents of different texture layers. This version also introduces notable performance and stability improvements. gDEBugger, an OpenGL and OpenGL ES debugger and profiler, traces application activity on top of the OpenGL API, lets programmers see what is happening within the graphic system implementation to find bugs and optimize OpenGL application performance. gDEBugger runs on Windows and Linux operating systems, and is currently in Beta phase on Mac OS X.

NewTek has created a completely new codebase which is multi-platform, multi-processor environment, and is built from the ground up to leverage both 64-bit and 32-bit computers. The SDK and framework are built with C++ and the UI toolkit is built using the industry standard Qt Toolkit from TrollTech / Nokia. The LightWave CORE™ scene file format is based upon COLLADA and have chosen Python as the LightWave CORE™ language, but other languages can be added via SWIG bindings. AMD announces its latest FireStream 9270. According to TechPowerUp, this latest FireStream 9270 supports OpenCL on Windows and Linux systems. This board features 800 stream cores with a top compute rate of 1.2 TFLOPs (single precision), 240 GFLOPs (double precision), 2GB of GDDR5 SDRAM at 850MHz and a peak memory bandwidth of 108.8 GB/s.
AMD gave the first public demonstration of OpenCL functionality at Siggraph Asia 2008 using a particle & fluid simulation app. We’ve posted a screen capture of the demo. It shows how OpenCL extracts high performance parallel computing out of multi-core CPUs (as well as GPUs and DSPs). As you can see in the video, as the additional CPU cores are enabled the simulation compute time is cut in half!

The Mirada automotive display benchmark is built upon the latest OpenGL ES 2.0 version of Futuremark’s Kanzi™ user interface engine for automotive, mobile and embedded devices.
Presto3D is the destination site for 3D artists looking to show off their 3D artwork. Now, Presto3D.com extends these frontiers by allowing 3D previews to be embedded anywhere on the web. Like YouTube, anyone can embed a preview of a 3D model on any website or blog. The preview will appear just as it does on Presto3D.com, and contain links back to other work by that artist. Unlike slower Flash-based or Java-based web solutions out there, Presto3D leverages OpenGL through its high-performance Feeling Engine to display rich COLLADA content including animated characters.
The COLLADA working group has extended it solicitation for bids for the improvement of the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite (COLLADA CTS). The conformance suite is a set of tests designed to confirm the conformance of a COLLADA Implementation. This call for bids is for the completion of this suite as specified in the attached statement of work.
Bidding is open to all interested parties. This call for bids opens on January 5, 2009. The deadline for submissions is now February 2nd, 2009.
