ESRI’s ArcGIS Explorer (AGX) is a free downloadable GIS viewer which allows viewing of a wide variety of spatial data in either 2D or 3D (Globe) display modes. ArcGIS Explorer supports import of COLLADA objects and allows the objects to interact with data.

AMD has released an update to their ATI Stream SDK. This brings OpenCL 1.1 support to the table among many other enhancements. Although most of the improvements revolve around OpenCL, there is a host of additional hardware and OS support included also. The ATI Stream SDK v2.2 product is based on a published Khronos Specification, and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Testing Process. The new release of the Voreen 2.5 volume rendering engine contains several new features. It is now possible to create and edit animations, which can be exported as videos. Furthermore, Voreen now contains a GPU-based multi-volume renderer, allows aggregation of subnetworks and supports iterative processing by exploiting loops in the network graph, and contains support for OpenCL used for some processors.

Unified Color Technologies announced HDR Expose, an OpenCL GPU enhanced application providing photographers complete control of their HDR workflow. HDR Expose replaces HDR PhotoStudio allowing the creation of natural looking HDR images. Notable improvements include a re-designed UI, improved RAW image processing, digital RGB and Bch meter, simplified batch processing and halo reduction and local contrast tools.
Image2D variables play a very important role in OpenCL because they use the texture caching and samplers of the GPU and thus are very suitable to store large arrays and/or data that has to be accessed very often. CMSoft Image2D tutorial covers how to manipulate Image2Ds and how to reinterpret a vector as a Image2D variable, with useful C99 source code to retrieve vector data from a Image2D.
