The Khronos Group, an open consortium of leading hardware and software companies, today announced it is launching a new Safety Critical working group to develop open graphics and compute acceleration standards for markets that require system safety certification. Khronos previously developed the OpenGL® SC 1.0 specification that defined a safety critical subset of OpenGL ES 1.0. The new working group will adapt more recent Khronos standards including OpenGL ES with programmable shaders, and the new generation Vulkan™ API for high-efficiency graphics and compute. Work on detailed proposals is already underway, and companies interested to participate are welcome to join Khronos for a voice and a vote in the development process.
SIGRRAPH Asia 2012 saw the Khronos Group host several speakers at this years Khronos Educators DevU. The slides from all those presentations are now online.
The Khronos Group invites you to view videos from February Hsinchu/Taipei leg of our 2012 Pan Pacific Road Show. The nine part series is now available on YouTube under the Khronos Group Channel.
The Khronos Group has posted several presentation slide sets online from SIGGRAPH Asia 2011. Included are slides sets covering KITE, OpenGL, OpenGL ES, OpenGL SC, OpenVG, OpenMAX, OpenSL ES, StreamInput, WebGL and WebCL.
The Khronos Group just wrapped up another DevU, this time in Seoul. Presentations slides from all the sessions are now online. Some of the Khronos APIs covered at this DevU were OpenGL ES, OpenCL, OpenGL, OpenGL SC, OpenVG and OpenMAX and OpenSL ES by AMD, ARM, DMP, DrawElements, HUONE, NVIDIA, Rightware and Samsung and Takumi. A complete schedule of events is available in our event archives.
ALT Software, the leading provider of advanced graphics software for safety-critical embedded systems, today announced its commitment to deliver DO-178B certifiable OpenGL drivers for the ATI Radeon™ E4690, AMD’s newest high performance embedded graphics accelerator. As part of its commitment to AMD’s Embedded GPU roadmap, ALT Software will be delivering both OpenGL SC (Safety Critical) and OpenGL ES 2.0 support for the ATI Radeon E4690.
The Vincent SC project is working on a portable implementation of the OpenGL SC API specification. More information on OpenGL SC can be found on the Khronos web site at http://www.khronos.org/opengles/sc. The initial code base for VIncent SC is now available in the SVN repository on Sourceforge. Please follow the instructions under Code->SVN to download the latest version of the source code. The code is fairly stable, and has already been used to debug the OpenGL SC conformance test. Currently, the project workspaces and project files included in the upload are targeting Visual Studio 2008, and require SDL to be present for framebuffer access. For more information, or if you want to get involved, please contact the project administrator.
ALT Software, the leading provider of advanced graphics software for safety-critical embedded systems, announced the launch of OpenGL SC support for the ATI Mobility Radeon™ X1400 graphics processor unit (GPU) from AMD. Building on the success of its certifiable OpenGL driver libraries for the ATI Mobility Radeon™ 9000, and developed as a part of ALT Software's continued commitment to supporting the AMD Embedded GPU roadmap, this OpenGL SC software stack enables embedded system integrators and OEMs to deploy highly complex graphical user interfaces in next generation avionics applications
Wind River's VxWorks 653 integrated multiple avionics (IMA) platform allows sophisticated display functions to be easily integrated into time and space-partitioned systems using standard COTS platforms. The integration between Esterel and Wind River products includes qualified code generation, verification and enhanced support for OpenGL SC, safety-critical graphics in the deployed system.
