GUIliani is a C++ software MVC framework that supports XML which enabling the creation of platform independent, appealing graphical user interfaces for embedded systems. GUIliani supports many platforms such as Linux, VxWorks, WindowsCE, Windows Mobile, uCLinux and NIOS. Support back-end renderers include OpenGL-ES, SDL, GDI, GDI+, DirectFB and eVRU.
Vivante Corporation announced that a Taiwanese developer of high quality multimedia chipsets for mobile applications and a trusted supplier to global first-tier handset makers has added silicon proven Vivante scalable 2D and 3D graphics solutions to their system-on-chip (SoC) designs.
The new gDEBugger V5.1 adds the ability to view Vertex Buffer Objects (VBOs) data. The Textures and Buffers viewer Data View tab displays the selected VBO's data in a spreadsheet. The user can select the displayed data format, offset and stride. gDEBugger, an OpenGL and OpenGL ES debugger and profiler, traces application activity on top of the OpenGL API, lets programmers see what is happening within the graphic system implementation to find bugs and optimize OpenGL application performance. gDEBugger runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.
Futuremark's OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics benchmarking software has been upgraded to support new UI technologies for mobile devices. The enhanced version of 3DMarkMobile ES 2.0 adds two new tests focused on new UI scenarios. The software which is based on the "Kanzi" 3D engine, is designed to test next-generation mobile 3D hardware, and is equipped with "high detail game content." The benchmark generates workloads that push the envelope of OpenGL ES 2.0 3D hardware, with a presentation that can be used for product demonstrations, the company adds.
DMP has announced a new two day getting start GLSL Programming training course on June 18th and 19th 2009. The OpenGL ES roadmap has been tailored to the diverse needs of the embedded industry and contains two tracks with "1.X" and "2.X" specification roadmaps that will evolve in parallel. The 1.X roadmap will continue to be developed for new-generation fixed function 3D accelerators while the 2.X roadmap will enable emerging programmable 3D pipelines.This course introduce the world of programmable pipeline by explaining basic topics of the GLSL(OpenGL Shading Language) which is a core feature of OpenGL ES 2.x and OpenGL 2.x.
Vivante Corporation announced that the Microprocessor Research and Development Center (MPRC) of Peking University (Beijing, China) selected Vivante 2D/3D GPU IP technology for its Single-Chip-PC SoC Platform, placing the graphics power of OpenGL ES 2.0, OpenGL ES 1.1, and OpenVG in an affordable, 3C computer for schools. "With the Vivante graphics processor and Khronos open standards APIs, we can provide modern graphics applications to benefit education for both teaching and research." said Professor Cheng Xu, Director of the MPRC, Peking University.

The Khronos™ Group today announced an initiative to create an open, royalty-free standard for bringing accelerated 3D graphics to the Web. In response to a proposal from Mozilla, Khronos has created an ‘Accelerated 3D on Web’ working group that Mozilla has offered to chair. This royalty-free standard will be developed under the proven Khronos development process with a target of a first public release within 12 months. Any interested company is welcome to join Khronos to make contributions, stand for chair, influence the direction of the specification and gain early access to draft specifications before public release. The working group will consider various approaches including exposing OpenGL and OpenGL ES 2.0 capabilities within ECMAScript. The Khronos Accelerated 3D on Web working group will commence work during April 2009.
