This paper highlights the OpenCL application for Box Blur filter, an image processing and filtering algorithm, and it describes how to optimize and accelerate the performance of a naïve OpenCL application using Intel OpenCL Subgroup extensions.
SPIRV-Cross is a practical tool and library for performing reflection on SPIR-V and disassembling SPIR-V back to high level languages. Help improve SPIRV-Cross with a pull request.
ELVEES companies group and Imagination Technologies announce the ELVEES Image Semantic Engine (ELISE), a unique next-generation multi-platform SoC offering a wide range of video analytics markets. Companies can use the new ELISE chip to develop a new generation of IP cameras with video analysis and a wide range of OEM modules. Unique hierarchical ELISE tools have been developed, including libraries for the Khronos OpenVX API and the innovative VIPE tool for vision and general purpose algorithm development on mixed multi-platform CPU/Velcore/GPU SoC systems.
Samsung us showing that Vulkan isn't just for gaming — it has real-world benefits in daily phone use. Samsung engineers demonstrated a new TouchWiz launcher being developed with Vulkan that not only improves performance but offers a notable battery life boost to your phone.
The folks at Gameranx have posted a high level overview of why Vulkan is important to gamers and why gamers should take notice. It should be clarified however, that it is not just AMD that is working with the Khronos Group on building Vulkan. There are a large number of companies working together under Khronos to bring Vulkan to life.
Dominic Witczak from AMD is holding a meetup in Poland on May 7th to cover the most common mistakes developers make when using Vulkan. you may read more about this event in Polish on the event page and on Facebook. The event is listed on the Khronos website in english.
Core Avionics & Industrial Inc (“CoreAVI”) announced today the immediate availability of the industry’s first OpenGL SC 2.0 graphics driver. CoreAVI’s new product announcement coincides with the Khronos Group’s official release of the OpenGL SC 2.0 API specification that is developed specifically to address the unique and stringent safety requirements of high reliability display system markets, including avionics DO-178C and automotive ISO 26262 safety standards. Product is based on a published Khronos specification and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Process when available. Current conformance status can be found at www.khronos.org/conformance.
There are three upcoming Khronos Chapter meetings. The first Chapter meetup is today, April 20th, in Boston 'Vulkan Round Table' at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) - 14th Floor. New York Chapter is holding an 'Introduction to WebGL 2' on April 26th at BioDigital Inc. The third Khronos Chapter meet up is the 'First Rhein-Ruhr Khronos Meeting' in Germany on May 7th. Keep track of all upcoming Chapter meet ups.
The Khronos Group announces the immediate availability of the OpenGL SC 2.0 specification for bringing programmable graphics to systems that require system safety certification. The OpenGL SC 2.0 API specification has been developed by the Khronos Safety Critical working group to address the unique and stringent requirements of high reliability display system markets, including FAA DO-178C and EASA ED-12C Level A for avionics, and ISO 26262 safety standards for automotive. Building on the large number of worldwide customer deployments and successful avionics certifications using OpenGL SC 1.0, OpenGL SC 2.0 enables high reliability system manufacturers to take advantage of modern graphics programmable shader engines while still achieving the highest levels of safety certification. The Official OpenGL SC 2.0 feedback forum is online.
