Khronos Demonstrates OpenCL Momentum at SC09

The Khronos™ Group today announced strong industry support and a wide range of shipping products utilizing OpenCL™ at SC09 (an international conference for high-performance computing). A number of demonstrations and tutorials from Khronos Group members highlighting the power and scalability of OpenCL will also be a major part of SC09. Khronos released a conformance suite for the OpenCL 1.0 specification in May 2009 that exhaustively tests both the functionality and numerical accuracy of OpenCL implementations before they are licensed to use the OpenCL trademark. A number of shipping products from working group members have successfully passed OpenCL conformance including products from AMD, Apple and NVIDIA. The Open Toolkit 1.0 beta-1 released

The Open Toolkit library is an advanced, low-level C# wrapper around OpenGL, OpenCL and OpenAL. It is suitable for games, scientific applications and any other project that requires 3D graphics, audio or compute functionality. Version 1.0 beta-1 introduces type-safe OpenGL ES 2.0 binding and a large number of new OpenGL tutorials on triangle picking, shaders, cubemaps and vertex buffer objects. It also contains a significant number of bug- and stability fixes; improves multi-monitor support; and improves support for multi-threading. The Khronos Group announces the release of the OpenWF 1.0 standard

The Khronos Group announced today that it has ratified and publicly released the OpenWF Composition 1.0 and OpenWF Display 1.0 specifications, forming a new royalty-free, open standard for building windowing systems and accessing display control functionality in accelerated mobile and embedded devices. OpenWF enables a new degree of portability, acceleration and abstraction for windowing systems while adding functionality and features through close integration with Khronos application APIs. The OpenWF standard is accompanied by an open source sample implementation and a full suite of conformance tests implemented by the Khronos Group. Read More

• Tags: will announce the new list of world's most powerful supercomputers during this month during Supercomputing 09 conference held in Portland, Oregon between November 14-20. Among those announcements, the Chinese National University of Defense Technology is hoping to have their new system listed in the top ten, running in practice at 563.1 TFLOPS and theoretically at 1.206 PFLOPS using GPUs running Linpack, SOPEoptimized code. Their supercomputer is using 5120 AMD RV770 GPUs. Read More

X3DOM: Announcing new open-source WebGL based X3D runtime

ForceWare 195.39: NVIDIA’s First Graphics Drivers with Public OpenCL Support

NVIDIA releases their first set of display drivers (for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, and 200-series desktop GPUs and ION desktop GPUs) that brings the public support of OpenCL (Open Computing Language). OpenCL (GPU version) is limited to GeForce 8 and later GPUs. This release includes also over 200 bug fixes. Read More

IBM Releases OpenCL Drivers for POWER6 and Cell/B.E.

IBM announced the release of alpha level OpenCL drivers for POWER6 and Cell/B.E. Linux systems through its alphaWorks 'Emerging technologies' program. The OpenCL Development Kit for Linux on Power is an IBM implementation of the OpenCL Specification, Version 1.0. This implementation is for Power hardware running the Linux operating system and has been tested on the IBM BladeCenter QS22 systems running Fedora 9 and on the IBM BladeCenter JS23 systems running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3.
