Benjamin Nortier from 1011ltd.com is now in possession of a MakerBot Thing-O-Matic 3D Printer. After surveying the 3D modelling software, disappointment settled in, and Benjamin has decided to build a WebGL 3D modelling tool. The tool must be accessible--Open Source, Powerful--using boundary representation (BRep), and Modern--internet-ready with a solid RESTful API. Complete with a sneak peak, and proof of concept, this project is worth following.
The CTK Workbench is a powerful rapid prototyping environment for OpenCL kernels. New kernels can be created by entering the OpenCL source code and defining inputs and outputs. These kernels can easily be connected to data sources and data viewers. Images, video streams, binary data and audio streams are supported. Sharing textures between OpenGL and OpenCL makes it possible to instantly display the results of OpenCL kernels operations. All results are visible in real time. Both Windows and Linux is supported.
GPU Caps Viewer 1.10.0 adds the support of the recently released GeForce GT 440 and improves the support of OpenCL by allowing the selection of a particular OpenCL platform for running the demos when you have several OpenCL implemtation in your system (NVIDIA, AMD or Intel).GPU Caps Viewer is a graphics card information utility focused on the OpenGL, OpenCL and CUDA API level support of the main graphics card.
An introductory tutorial using the Khronos EGL API and EAGL--the EGL API implemented by Apple. This tutorial will show you how to set up an OpenGL’s application to comunicate with the device’s windowing system. Focus is placed on Objective-C and iOS.
The Khronos Group has registered the mimetype "model/vnd.collada+xml" with IANA for the COLLADA extension .dae. Mark Barnes, COLLADA Work Group Chair said "the important thing about having a MIME type for COLLADA is that it enables applications and operating systems to recognize ".dae" documents and provide a much richer and secure experience to users, especially for Web applications and browsers."
