Freescales i.MX51 processors for automotive applications, and industrial and consumer applications, incorporates dedicated OpenVG™ and OpenGL®-ES hardware acceleration that is vital for popular customer requirements like Adobe Flash. Top500.org to announce world’s most powerful supercomputers at SC09

Top500.org will announce the new list of world's most powerful supercomputers during this month during Supercomputing 09 conference held in Portland, Oregon between November 14-20. Among those announcements, the Chinese National University of Defense Technology is hoping to have their new system listed in the top ten, running in practice at 563.1 TFLOPS and theoretically at 1.206 PFLOPS using GPUs running Linpack, SOPEoptimized code. Their supercomputer is using 5120 AMD RV770 GPUs. Read More

X3DOM: Announcing new open-source WebGL based X3D runtime

The system allows web-developers to build web-pages and applications, which include declarative (X)3D content that will be rendered hardware accelerated, thanks to WebGL, without the need for using any plugin. The goal here is to have a live X3D scene in your browser-DOM, which allows you to manipulate the 3D content by only adding, removing or changing DOM elements. ForceWare 195.39: NVIDIA’s First Graphics Drivers with Public OpenCL Support

NVIDIA releases their first set of display drivers (for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, and 200-series desktop GPUs and ION desktop GPUs) that brings the public support of OpenCL (Open Computing Language). OpenCL (GPU version) is limited to GeForce 8 and later GPUs. This release includes also over 200 bug fixes. Read More

IBM Releases OpenCL Drivers for POWER6 and Cell/B.E.

IBM announced the release of alpha level OpenCL drivers for POWER6 and Cell/B.E. Linux systems through its alphaWorks 'Emerging technologies' program. The OpenCL Development Kit for Linux on Power is an IBM implementation of the OpenCL Specification, Version 1.0. This implementation is for Power hardware running the Linux operating system and has been tested on the IBM BladeCenter QS22 systems running Fedora 9 and on the IBM BladeCenter JS23 systems running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3. Khronos Group expands WebGL forums for coders

The Khronos Group has expanded the WebGL section of their public forums, giving an area for users and coders to mingle together. The forums now contain categories for beginner and advanced coders, hardware and software issues for end users, OS and browser specific questions and help, and an area to discuss SDK's, toolkits and wrappers. The Khronos Group message boards are visited by the developers behind all the Khronos API's on a regular basis, and offer the best place to give and receive help.
