
Substance Painter can now export glTF 2.0 scenes. Substance Painter is a 3D painting software allowing you to texture, render and share your work. glTF is a universal 3D scene format developed by the Khronos Group and currently gaining a lot of momentum in the industry. glTF lightweight, PBR ready, standardized and open source.

Codeplay has announced that ComputeCpp Community Edition is now available on Windows. It is now possible to develop SYCL applications using Windows and Visual Studio. The Windows release of ComputeCpp CE currently supports Windows 7 or 10 and can be used with Visual Studio 2015. Similar to our Linux version, the hardware you want to use with ComputeCpp you is required to have SPIR OpenCL drivers in order to be supported.
When makers of the ABYSS Engine started working on the Android release of Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore, the goal was for everyone to be able to enjoy the same visual fidelity, no matter if playing on Android or iOS. Khronos member AImotive discusses their vision-first technology and NNEF. AImotive worked with the Khronos Working Group to create the new Neural Networking Exchange Format standard. Dell Technologies is excited to join the Khronos Group and actively contribute to innovation in xR. Joining the Khronos Group provides a forum to drive critical and strategic requirements for open standards run by the Khronos Group such as OpenXR and OpenGL, said Liam Quinn, CTO for the Client Solutions Group.

SDL 2.0.6 was released as the latest feature update for this widely-used library that allows for more cross-platform portability of applications and games centered around input, audio, and video helpers. SDL 2.0.6 features QNX7 support, an experimental JACK audio driver, a default Steam Controller mapping for Linux, updated game controller, and cross-platform Vulkan helpers.

In conjunction with today’s PowerVR Series 9XE and Series 9XM announcement, Imagination is revealing a new series of PowerVR-branded hardware IP blocks: the Series 2NX neural network accelerator (NNA). Announcing that the 6th International Workshop on OpenCL will take place on the 14-16 May, 2018 at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, UK and that the Call for Submissions is now open. Submissions related to any aspect of using OpenCL (including SYCL, Vulkan Compute and OpenCL based libraries) are of interest, including (but not limited to): case-studies of their use in applications, software tools, programming methods, debugging, performance analysis, and integration.
First up, Vulkan 1.0.61 has been released, and LunarG has followed quickly with an update to their SDK (Windows, Linux). This update see four new extensions: VK_KHR_bind_memory2, VK_KHR_image_format_list, VK_KHR_maintenance2 and VK_KHR_sampler_ycbcr_conversion, as well as numerous internal fixes, as well as a few issues from the community. The Xilinx software defined development environment, SDAccel, is now available on Amazon Web Services for use with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud F1 instances. SDAccel automates the acceleration of software application written in C, C++ or OpenCL by building application-specific FPGA kernels for Amazon EC2 F1.
Non-profit organization The Blender Foundation has released Blender 2.79, an update to its cross-platform, open-source 3D graphics tool. The new build further improves its Cycles Rendering feature, bringing feature parity with NVIDIA CUDA and improved performance to AMD OpenCL hardware.
