The latest PowerVR SDK v3.4 includes several exciting new features, including the addition of the latest compilers for PowerVR Series6 (FP16 and FP32) and Series6XT GPUs to PVRShaderEditor, providing more up-to-date shader profiling. PVRShaderEditor also adds new functionality to access the GLSL disassembly for these compilers as well as full instruction set documentation for PowerVR Rogue GPUs. A new WebGL SDK has been included in the package.
The Khronos Group today announced the ratification and public release of the finalized OpenVX 1.0 specification, an open, royalty-free standard for cross platform acceleration of computer vision applications. OpenVX enables performance and power-optimized computer vision processing, especially important in embedded and real-time uses cases such as face, body and gesture tracking, smart video surveillance, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), object and scene reconstruction, augmented reality, visual inspection, robotics and more. In addition to the OpenVX specification, Khronos has developed a full set of conformance tests and an Adopters Program, that enables implementers to test their implementations and use the OpenVX trademark if conformant. Khronos plans to ship an open source, fully-conformant CPU-based implementation of OpenVX 1.0 before the end of 2014. GLUS 2.0 has been added to the official OpenGL SDK. GLUS is an open-source C library, which provides a hardware and operating system abstraction plus many functions usually needed for graphics programming using OpenGL, OpenGL ES or OpenVG. Many open source graphics examples are also included.

Cf4ocl underwent a complete rewrite, and now offers a cross-platform object-oriented framework for developing and benchmarking OpenCL projects in C and C++. Cf4ocl promotes the rapid development of OpenCL host programs, assisting in the benchmarking of OpenCL events, such as kernel execution and data transfers. The framework also provides utilities to simplify the analysis of the OpenCL environment and of kernel requirements.

The annual Augmented Reality Conference hosted by Metaio - InsideAR - will be held in Munich, Germany on October 29-30th. Neil Trevett will be presenting on Bringing Spatial Awareness to Mobile AR including Google Project Tango and Advances in Mobile Sensing – and will provide insights on how Khronos APIs can be used to accelerate advanced AR applications. Metaio hosts InsideAR in Munich, Tokyo and Beijing, and had great success last year with more than 800 participants from industry, research, OEMs and developers.
The free WebGL library CopperLicht has just been released in version 1.8. New features are animation blending, directional lights, iOS 8 support, touch aware browser support, compatibility with the just released CopperCube 5 editor, and much more. CopperLicht can be downloaded for free from its website, which also includes some demos of it in action.
Shaderific version 3.4 is now available. Shaderific is an educational app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch that makes it possible to write, compile and test OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenGL ES 3.0 shader programs directly on any iOS device. Version 3.4 adds support for iOS 8, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus taking full advantage of the bigger screens.
