The Khronos Group has posted most of the slide presentations from the SIGGRAPH BOFs online. Slide sets include COLLADA, OpenCL, OpenGL, OpenGL ES and WebGL. Developers will be particularly interested in these slides which include overviews of OpenGL 4.3, OpenGL ES 3.0 and CLU extension. There is also the slide deck from Kurt Akeley.

Vivante Corporation announced the industry's first shipping products designed to support the Khronos Group's next generation OpenGL ES 3.0 API. Support of the new API will be offered in all GC Cores starting with the GC800 Series and higher. Vivante GC technology supporting OpenGL ES 3.0 can be found in Freescale's i.MX6 Quad application processor. Upcoming releases from Marvell's PXA and Armada product lines and other previously announced Vivante licensees will also support the latest API. Product is based on a published Khronos OpenGL ES 3.0 Specification, and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Testing Process. Current conformance status can be found at

OpenGL to celebrate its 20th anniversary tonight at SIGGRAPHThe Khronos Group and OpenGL would like to invite you to attend the OpenGL 20th Anniversary party. The grand event will be taking place at the JW Marriott L.A. Live in the Gold Ballroom Salon 1, 2 and 3. There will be lots of games, prizes, food and drink, and lots of room for everyone! Everyone is welcome to this celebration. Many of the founding fathers of OpenGL will also be in attendance, including Kurt Akeley! Complete details are available online.

As a developer, you might be asking: When can I begin to write games or content with OpenGL ES 3.0? The answer is now! To help support the expanding ecosystem of developers, ARM has announced the availability of a number of different tools to get you up and running on the path to developing some amazing content with OpenGL ES 3.0. ARM will be showcasing OpenGL ES 3.0 on the latest Mali-T604 hardware at SIGGRAPH along with these new tools: OpenGL ES 3.0 Emulator, Texture Compression Tool v4.0 and the OpenGL ES 3.0 SDK. ARM can be found in booth #550.

Intel has released Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications 2013 Beta. This Beta SDK allows OpenCL 1.2 API preview support on Intel CPUs mixed with the production OpenCL 1.1 support on the Intel HD Graphics. It also includes new tools such as a new kernel builder and GNU Debugger (GDB) support which ease the creation of OpenCL applications. This new beta SDK now supports Windows 8 and is compatible with the latest Intel HD Graphics driver for Windows 8

drawElements Ltd. announced today support for Khronos OpenGL ES 3.0 in their unique GPU analysis system, drawElements Quality Program. With the help of the Quality Program, vendors can bring their OpenGL ES 3.0 solutions to the market faster and with informed confidence in the quality of their products. The initial release ships with over 20.000 test cases and more will be added in each subsequent quarterly release.

Please meet Work Group Chairs, Khronos founding members and other technology experts at the Khronos Group News Conference and BOFs. The first hour of our day is especially created for the press to get all the Khronos news in one shot. but of course you are encouraged to attend all of our BOFS to get more detail and to attend the very special OpenGL 20th anniversary party

Shipments of GPUs conformant with the Khronos OpenGL ES family of graphics APIs will reach 1 billion units per annum by 2014 according to Imagination Technologies. The new OpenGL ES 3.0 API will drive the next step towards graphics parity between mobiles, desktops and games consoles.

The Khronos Group today announced the immediate release of the OpenGL® ES 3.0 specification, bringing significant functionality and portability enhancements to the industry-leading, royalty-free 3D graphics API that is used on the majority of the world’s smartphones and tablets. OpenGL ES 3.0 provides access to state-of-the-art GPU functionality with portability across diverse mobile and embedded operating systems and platforms. OpenGL ES 3.0 is backwards compatible with OpenGL ES 2.0, enabling applications to incrementally add new visual features to applications. The full specification and reference materials are available for immediate download at

The Khronos Group today announced the immediate release of the OpenGL® 4.3 specification, bringing the very latest graphics functionality to the most advanced and widely adopted cross-platform 2D and 3D graphics API. OpenGL 4.3 integrates developer feedback and continues the rapid evolution of this royalty-free specification while maintaining full backwards compatibility, enabling applications to incrementally use new features while portably accessing state-of-the-art GPU functionality across diverse operating systems and platforms. The OpenGL 4.3 specification contains new features that extend functionality available to developers and enables increased application performance. The full specification is available for immediate download.

The Khronos Group today announced the immediate release of the royalty-free, Adaptive Scalable Texture Compression (ASTC™) LDR extension specification, defining a new, highly flexible texture compression scheme for developers using both the OpenGL® ES and OpenGL® 3D graphics APIs. ASTC is an exceptionally efficient compression technology which allows encoding of for a wide variety of texture formats at bit-rates of 8 bits per pixel to below 1 bit per pixel. ASTC is published as a Khronos extension, KHR_compressed_texture_astc_ldr, which is available from the Khronos website.

Khronos Institute of Training & Education (KITE) is an initiative to increase communication and cooperation between INDUSTRY and EDUCATORS. KITE has three goals: Accelerate development of educational materials for Khronos APIs; Develop standardized testing methods for Khronos API proficiency; Make Khronos certification testing widely available in the industry. Please help spread the news of this afternoons BOF. We hope to see a lot of educators and Industry come together for this 2 hour session. Complete details are available on the Khronos SIGGRAPH page.
