Michael Bien has finished an OpenCL pack for NetBeans. Features include an OpenCL Editor with syntax highlighting code completion and CL reference pages integration, OpenCL compiler integration, In-editor annotations of compiler warnings and errors updated as you type and JOCL project template. Java 7 is required so you will need the Java 7 package on Google Code.
DMP has announced a new two day getting start GLSL Programming training course on October 20th and 21st 2011. This course introduces the world of programmable pipeline by explaining basic topics of the GLSL(OpenGL Shading Language) which is a core feature of OpenGL ES 2.x and OpenGL 2.x. The course is offered in Japan in Japanese.
Neil Trevett, president of The Khronos Group, met with Japanese media at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver, to discuss the recent OpenGL 4.2 announcement and the momentum of the OpenGL advantage against DirectX.
SRS Labs has become the leading provider of advanced audio and voice post processing technologies for tablet makers worldwide, with design wins in six of the top 10 best-selling media tablets. Furthermore, SRS is the only company that publicly offers an audio technology suite designed to be fully conformant with the recently-introduced Khronos OpenSL ES 1.1 audio standard for Android.
SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver last week had a very high level of interest in OpenCL™ as demonstrated by SIGGRAPH attendees. The Exhibitor Tech Talk on “OpenCL and OpenGL/DirectX interoperability” presented by Olivier Zegdoun of AMD’s ISV Workstation team had seating for over 90 attendees and was standing room only. The OpenCL Birds-of-a-Feather with presentations from AMD, Intel, Nvidia and Codeplay over 200 attendees, and when asked who was already using OpenCL approximately half of the attendees raised their hands.
A new feature rich application to develop and test GLSL shaders called “Shader Devel and 3D Viewer” has been publish on the android market for devices running android 2.2 or newer. This application lets you edit, save, load and test your shaders, manage the scene, lighting, texture and uniforms and load your own obj models.
The presentations slides used at the SIGGRAPH 2011 Khronos Group OpenCL and OpenGL BOFs are now available.
AMD Demo of Optis THEIA VR using OpenCL on an AMD FirePro V7900 at the AMD Booth at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. The real-time rendered Bentley model is created from six views folded into a box, with stitched edges to become a fully interactive environment. This process enables designers and engineers to analyze and optimize the lighting performance of future products while increasing design productivity.
Not sure where to start at SIGGRAPH 2011? Make your first stop at the Khronos Group Pavilion. Lots of give-aways and lots of demo’s from ARM (665), Codeplay (766), DMP (664), Fixstars (667) and HUONE (762) all part of the Khronos Pavilion (663 & 764). Stop in to say Hi and learn about WebGL, OpenCL, OpenGL, OpenGL ES and COLLADA.
The COLLADA intermediate language specification is intended to standardize 3D data, but there’s a wide variation in the way applications work with COLLADA files. To help developers adhere to the standard and create 3D tools that work together seamlessly, the Khronos Group created the COLLADA Conformance Test Suite (CTS). The tutorial is available for download today as a PDF document. COLLADA has two levels of conformance tests, Adopters and the free Implementers tests. The implementers tests area freely available online.
The Khronos Group will be holding three of the five SIGGRAPH BOFs today, August 10th. Starting off the show at 10am be sure not to miss the WebGL BOF in the Vancouver Convention Centre - Room 122 (West Building). Meet and greet some of the developers behind WebGL. Moving along to OpenCL in the Pan Pacific Hotel Crystal Ballroom B&C at 1:30PM. Lots of prizes to here for those that really know their OpenCL. Finally, at 4PM, also in the Pan Pacific Hotel Crystal Ballroom B&C, the much anticipated OpenGL. Even more prizes for those OpenGL trivia buffs. We hope to see all of you there today!
Imagination Technologies is working with Vector Fabrics BV to apply parallelization to software to be distributed across application processors that include PowerVR SGX graphics cores. The use of the OpenCL-based vfEmbedded code development, analysis and parallelization tool will be demonstrated in the booth of Imagination Technologies at SIGGRAPH this week.
Leveraging the power of WebGL and its supported browsers, OurBricks allows users to examine a full 3D version of any model uploaded to the site with no need for any plug-in. Visitors to the site can download content, embed it in any webpage as easy as embedding a YouTube video, or drop it into Katalabs’ multi-user 3D sandbox for a ‘virtual world’ type experience.
AMD AMD today announced availability of the AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Software Development Kit (SDK) v2.5. Featuring advances in CPU to GPU data throughput, the latest version of the APP SDK provides developers a solid foundation to take full advantage of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs), including the latest AMD A-Series APUs offering brilliant HD graphics, supercomputer-like performance and All-Day battery life. AMD is at SIGGRAPH this week offering OpenCL courses and training on using gDEBugger, an OpenGL and OpenCL debugger and memory analyzer.
In its 10th year of operation the Khronos™ Group today widened its call for participation in its two newest working groups: StreamInput™ and WebCL™. StreamInput is defining a cross-platform API for advanced sensor processing and user interaction, and WebCL is creating JavaScript bindings to OpenCL™ to enable heterogeneous parallel computing in HTML5 Web browsers. Any interested company is welcome to join Khronos to make contributions, influence the direction of specifications and gain early access to draft standards before public release for any Khronos working group.
