Overview
The Khronos Group is an industry consortium creating open standards to enable the authoring and acceleration of parallel computing, graphics, vision and neural nets on a wide variety of platforms and devices. Khronos standards include Vulkan®, 3D Commerce, OpenGL®, OpenGL® ES, OpenGL® SC, WebGL™, SPIR-V™, OpenCL™, SYCL™, OpenVX™, NNEF™, COLLADA™, OpenXR™ and glTF™. Khronos members are enabled to contribute to the development of Khronos specifications, are empowered to vote at various stages before public deployment, and are able to accelerate the delivery of their cutting-edge accelerated platforms and applications through early access to specification drafts and conformance tests.
As a Japanese Regional Business Development Director, you will work closely with Khronos staff to proactively engage with member companies and targeted organizations in order to grow awareness of Khronos technologies and ensure Khronos’ Japanese members are regularly involved.
Description of Duties
Contractor shall provide approximately (30) thirty hours per month of routine Khronos
Japan Business Development Services. “Routine Services” are defined as including but not specifically limited to the following types of activities listed below:
Manage membership services
- Check in 2xs per year (or more as needed) with all Japanese based members in order to:
- Understand and track what standards they are most interested in
- How Khronos help with their business
- Update them on any other Working Group or general Khronos news (try to educate on other areas they may want to participate in)
- Gather any general feedback or discuss ways they may be able to get more engaged
- Reach out to previous Japanese Khronos members:
- Educate them on Khronos’ latest activities. Determine if they may be interested in rejoining
- Contact and establish relationships with potential Japanese members:
- Work with Working Group Chairs to gather targeted Japanese companies. Track contacts and correspondence
- Educate prospective members on the latest Khronos activities
- Track all member and prospective member feedback. Provide monthly reports to Officers
- Manage routine communications
- Be first line of communication for information inquiries from key media
- Complete translations to Japanese website of news headlines
- Post to social media as appropriate
- Manage local community development
- Be first line of communication with educational institutions and industry associations
- Field questions about Khronos participation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline or experience
- 6+ years of experience in a related position
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and presentation
- Bilingual - Japanese and English
- Familiarity with industry trade alliances
Additional Requirements
- Active participant in technical/developer communities, open source projects and/or other developer community groups
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm towards tackling new challenges and learning new technologies quickly
