Do you love tackling complex challenges and inherently see the importance of every detail? Be a part of the Display team responsible for the development of Next Generation Display Processing Units (DPUs) that are key to delivering vivid and stunning visual experiences in the mobile, compute, automotive and IoT markets. The DPU is responsible for high performance and low power composition, processing, and color management of image streams from the GPU, CPU, video decoder and camera. It then formats, packetizes, and synchronizes the composited image for display through display interfaces such as DSI and DisplayPort.

We are currently looking to hire a self-motivated engineer with excellent understanding of concepts in graphics as well as hands on experience in graphics implementation and general S/W development. As part of the Display team, you’ll design and implement GPU-based image processing solutions for mobile, compute, AR/VR and automotive applications where
the emphasis is on optimized image quality, power and performance.

In this role you will closely collaborate with various Display teams including systems and software, GPU teams, as well as Performance and Power teams to deliver high quality GPU shaders that work seamlessly as an extension of display processing hardware.

The ideal candidate will have strong math and analytical skills combined with passion and creativity.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop low latency, high quality image processing algorithms, and deploy them on mobile GPUs
  • Understand and analyze display processing algorithms and map them to standard constructs in graphics
  • Example algorithms include scaling, tone mapping, HDR, denoising, detail/contrast enhancement, color management, dithering, warping, etc.
  • Test and validate algorithms for image quality, performance, and power
  • Collaborate across functional boundaries in defining architecture, APIs, design

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Well versed in implementing various graphics shaders either in Vulkan/OpenGL/DirectX/OpenCL/CUDA is mandatory
  • Strong understanding of fundamental concepts in graphics– image filtering, anti-aliasing, coordinate axes transformations, etc.
  • Android/ Windows graphics framework knowledge, good embedded system concepts and understanding of Windows/Unix Kernel architecture, concepts like shared memory, semaphores, mutex, system call, deadlock, spinlock, IOCTLs etc.
  • C++ and MATLAB/Python experience
  • Understanding of hardware and data flow and hardware/software interaction
  • Good communication skills – writing and presentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of video formats and color spaces
  • Experience in image quality for various processing algorithms
  • Experience with video or image signal processing hardware pipelines (e.g. raw video processing)
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
  • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
