GDC returns to the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco March 9-13 for five days of learning, networking, and inspiration. Join a global community of programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers as we convene gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry.

Khronos open standards are the foundation of many of the products you will see on display at GDC and GDC Mobile. If you develop multimedia content, attend to learn how these APIs will let you tap into cutting edge graphics and media processing on platforms ranging from high-end workstations to mobile phones. This series of sessions will give you up-to-the-minute updates on OpenCL, OpenGL, COLLADA, and handheld graphics standards such as OpenGL ES and OpenVG.

OpenGL featuring WebGL

The increased adoption of 3D graphics on the web, mobile, embedded and desktop devices make OpenGL more relevant than ever, ideally positioned as the only cross-platform graphics API. Attend this session to learn about the latest updates on the OpenGL standard, and how the OpenGL ARB is addressing the latest graphics hardware capabilities. Also discover how WebGL is bringing OpenGL based graphics to browsers on any platform supporting the OpenGL or OpenGL ES standards, without the need for any plug-in.

Attend the COLLADA session to see developers present the latest cutting-edge DCC tools and applications for gaming, automation, 3D web and visualization and learn about the new COLLADA conformance framework. Mobile featuring WebGL

The Khronos Mobile session will provide an inside track on the new media APIs being used to develop the billion-dollar, billion-user gaming and mobile multimedia markets! WebGL brings hardware-accelerated 3D graphics in Web pages without the need for browser plug-ins by defining a JavaScript binding to OpenGL and OpenGL ES 2.0 to enable rich 3D graphics within a browser on any platform supporting the OpenGL or OpenGL ES graphics standards. WebGL is being adopted by the major browser vendors. This session will present the industry's first detailed update on the WebGL 1.0 specification.

The Best of Both Worlds: Using UIKit with OpenGL

A lot of people think that choosing to use OpenGL means giving up on all the goodies that UIKit provides. Nothing could be further from the truth! In this session we'll show how to combine OpenGL views with other UIKit elements, how to transfer graphics data back and forth, and even how to have multiple OpenGL views. Finally, we'll cover best practices and performance measurements of what can be achieved combining the two systems.

An Overview to Creating Games with Palm's Plug-in Development Kit

Come learn how to take full advantage of the advanced hardware capabilities of Palm's webOS devices--including full OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0 support--using the recently announced Plug-in Development Kit (PDK). This technical session will provide an architectural overview of Palm's hardware and software platforms and then provide hands-on details for how the PDK exposes these capabilities.
