Rightware Debut’s OpenGL ES based Kanzi™ Cross-platform UI Solution at Mobile World Congress

Rightware will demonstrate ‘Mobile App Store’ application, designed and implemented using Kanzi user interface solution, running in various mobile devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 15th through February 18th. Key advantage of the Kanzi solution is “design-once, deploy everywhere” cross-platform support for the leading mobile operating systems, including Android, Blackberry, Linux, Maemo, Moblin, iPhone OS, Palm Web OS, Symbian OS, and Windows Mobile. Khronos Beijing DevU presentation slides now available online

The Khronos Group just wrapped up a DevU and press luncheon in Beijing. Presentations slides from all the sessions are now online. Some of the Khronos APIs covered at this DevU were OpenGL ES, OpenCL, OpenGL, OpenVG and OpenMAX and OpenSL ES by Vivante, ARM, Rightware, HUONE and NVIDIA. MontaVista® Software LLC and Rightware Oy announced a strategic partnership and enablement of Rightware’s flagship 3D user interface product - Kanzi® UI Solution running on top of a GENIVI compliant MontaVista Linux platform. MontaVista demonstrated at Telematics Update 2011, a jointly developed solution on an automotive reference platform that showcases their capabilities and ease of integration with 3D automotive solutions. The demonstration runs on top of OpenGL ES 2.0, which is the only hard-requirement for Kanzi Engine technology.

Rightware announced the release of Power Board, an online benchmarking database service, and Basemark™ ES 2.0 Taiji Free, a consumer-version of the industry’s standard graphics benchmarking product. Rightware announced public availability of Basemark CL. The OpenCL benchmark product provides diverse performance measurement capabilities for device manufacturers, semiconductor companies and their ecosystem to test and optimize OpenCL implementations. CARP project targets its output to OpenCL

December 2011 saw the kick-off of an ambitious research project called “CARP: Correct and Efficient Accelerator Programming”, which aims to boost the programmability of accelerator hardware, such as graphics processing units (GPUs), by innovating in programming language design and implementation, as well as formal verification techniques. Funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), the consortium, which consists of eight partners--including Khronos members ARM, Imperial College London and Rightware--seeks to provide a unified flow for developing correct and efficient accelerator software, thus increasing reliability and energy efficiency of computing systems.
