In a quiet post on the LLVMdev mailing list, it was announced that AMD is going Open Source with the AMD IL Code Generator which is compatible with LLVM 2.9. Also, video and slides from the recent 2011 LLVM Developers' Meeting are starting to appear online. Including SKIR: Just-in-Time Compilation for Parallelism with LLVM, Univeristy of Colorado; Intel OpenCL SDK Vectorizer, Intel; Polly - First successful optimizations - How to proceed?, ENS/INRIA and finally Symbolic Testing of OpenCL Code from Imperial College London.

Intel’s OpenCL talk at the LLVM developers conference

In this talk form the 2011 LLVM Developers Meeting, Intel presents their OpenCL SDK 1.5 and its core technology the vectorizer compiler.
The video presents an overview of the implicit vectorization module and discusses experience with the LLVM compiler toolkit. The presenter also presents some of the design decisions and and plans for future features (future instruction sets, vector select, predicated instructions, etc).

Intel Introduces an OpenCL SDK for 3rd Generation Intel Core Processors

Intel has released the Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications 2012 to support 3rd generation Intel Core processors. Supported seamlessly by the Intel HD Graphics Driver, OpenCL developers can now use compute resources across both the Intel CPU and Intel HD Graphics 4000. The SDK also supports interoperability with graphics and media APIs including Microsoft DirectX, OpenGL, and the Intel Media SDK.

Qualcomm the Surprise Leader in Mobile GPU Shipments

According to the semiconductor research firm Jon Peddie Research, Qualcomm is shipping the most mobile graphics processors. The research firm found that nearly 900 million mobile GPUs of all types shipped in 2011, and projects unit shipments to surpass 1 billion in 2012. The mobile GPU leader, Qualcomm, owned 25 percent of the market last year, while runner-up Intel had a 19 percent share.

Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications 2013 Beta

Intel has released Intel SDK for OpenCL Applications 2013 Beta. This Beta SDK allows OpenCL 1.2 API preview support on Intel CPUs mixed with the production OpenCL 1.1 support on the Intel HD Graphics. It also includes new tools such as a new kernel builder and GNU Debugger (GDB) support which ease the creation of OpenCL applications. Khronos SPIR 1.0 Specification for OpenCL now available

The Khronos Group recently launched the SPIR 1.0 specification for OpenCL. The specification defines version 1.0 of the OpenCL Standard Portable Intermediate Representation (SPIR). SPIR is a mapping from the OpenCL C programming language into LLVM IR.
