The Khronos Group - Connecting Software to Silicon

The Khronos Group is a not for profit industry consortium creating open standards for the authoring and acceleration of parallel computing, graphics, dynamic media, computer vision and sensor processing on a wide variety of platforms and devices. All Khronos members are able to contribute to the development of Khronos API specifications, are empowered to vote at various stages before public deployment, and are able to accelerate the delivery of their cutting-edge 3D platforms and applications through early access to specification drafts and conformance tests.

      Agenda

      Opening Presentation

      By Remi Arnaud, Intel

Remi will discuss the strength of COLLADA, the solution it brings, and the doors it opens in content creation and mixed tool pipeline. Attendees will learn about innovative ideas on how to fully leverage COLLADA advantages in their content creation pipeline and day-to-day work. Arnaud will present anecdotes of how and why many leading authoring packages are adding support for COLLADA. Momentum for COLLADA shows that not only the game and film industry are widely adopting the standard—but other industries, including computer aided design (CAD), are seriously looking at the COLLADA format. Remi will also provide insight on what’s coming: Conformance Tests, new features like vector graphic assets and more.

      Demos

Select members of the COLLADA Workgroup—formed of leading companies in the industry including: AMD, Daimler Chrysler, Feeling Software, NVIDIA, Omegame, Sony, and Softimage—will provide special technology demonstrations and presentations.

      Panel Session

A panel of content creation experts will discuss and share their thoughts and perspectives on how COLLADA is evolving to as an interchange file format to help solve the new challenges they face within mixed-tool pipelines.

      Who should attend?

Artists, Technical Directors and Software Programmers interested in content creation and mixed tool pipelines in every 3D application field (game, film, CAD, visualization, etc.).
