This training event is co-instructed by Bob Kuehne (Blue Newt Software) and Paul Martz (Skew Matrix Software). The training will be held in the heart of Washington DC—easy train, metro, and parking, all near the location. Two courses are available over three days.
Overview
January 22 & 23: OSG Intermediate course
We'll teach you everything you need to know to move from basic OSG usage, to pretty detailed and comprehensive library features. Here's what you'll learn:
- Memory management
- Nodes, various node types, custom nodes and NodeKits
- Traversals, NodeVisitors, Callbacks
- Data manipulation tools
- Drawables, Geometry, and state
- Using plugins
- Threads
- Viewing and camera manipulation
- Window system integration
- Optimization techniques
Finally, if you choose to stay for day 3, we're focusing on terrain:
January 24: Terrain Databases in OSG
This 1-day course covers creation and rendering of large terrain/urban databases in OSG. Topics covered include:
- Large data set construction, display, and optimization
- Paged data sets
- Network served data
- VirtualPlanetBuilder data generation
- Shading
- Tools & Workflow
