Acceleware presents four courses with a focus on how to write and optimize OpenCL applications for Altera FPGAs. Students will be taught how to achieve high performance by taking advantage of the heterogeneous nature of OpenCL and the massively parallel capabilities of Altera FPGAs. The training is targeted at design teams who work with parallel algorithms and computationally intense applications. There are four course in all:
- May 14 – 17, 2013 Austin, TX, USA
- May 28 – 31, 2013 Toronto, ON, Canada
- June 3 – 6, 2013 New York, NY, USA
- July 23 – 26, 2013 San Jose, CA, USA
Learning WebGL, a leading site for learning browser-based 3D programming, today announced that it has appointed Tony Parisi as Editor-in-Chief. Giles Thomas, site creator has been named Editor Emeritus, in recognition for his pioneering efforts developing an invaluable educational destination for WebGL.
AccelerEyes provides advanced GPU training lectures and hands-on practicums. In a matter of days, you and your team will become proficient in state-of-the-art GPU programming techniques.
Udacity and Autodesk are now offering a MOOC on the basics of interactive 3D graphics. A MOOC is a massive open (i.e. free) online course. The self-paced course is based on WebGL through the popular three.js library. 19,000 people have signed up so far.
Brought to you in partnership with Autodesk, this class will teach you about the basic principles of 3D computer graphics: meshes, transforms, cameras, materials, lighting, and animation. By the end of this class you will know enough to make an animated 3D demo program that runs in a web browser, while also understanding the basic principles of how realistic computer images are generated. Course Instructors are Eric Haines from Autodesk and Gundega Dekena.
SIGRRAPH Asia 2012 saw the Khronos Group host several speakers at this years Khronos Educators DevU. The slides from all those presentations are now online.
If you happen to be an educator going to SIGGRAPH Asia this year, then you are in for a treat. The Khronos Group announces their first-ever KITE event geared towards educators. While our DevU events in the past have been successful at helping developers get familiar with our APIs, at this years DevU for Educators, the goal will be to provide you with the insight and understanding you need in order to include Khronos technologies in your teaching curriculum. Including this cutting-edge material in your classes will give your graduating students an edge – the same skills and proficiencies the industry's recruiters are looking for in new engineers. All the details are available on the Khronos event page.
Khronos Institute of Training & Education (KITE) is an initiative to increase communication and cooperation between INDUSTRY and EDUCATORS. KITE has three goals: Accelerate development of educational materials for Khronos APIs; Develop standardized testing methods for Khronos API proficiency; Make Khronos certification testing widely available in the industry. Please help spread the news of this afternoons BOF. We hope to see a lot of educators and Industry come together for this 2 hour session. Complete details are available on the Khronos SIGGRAPH page.
Going to SIGGRAPH? Be sure to check out some amazing demo's, presentations, prizes and more. Khronos has a news conference, five BOFs (COLLADA, OpenCL, WebGL, OpenGL ES & OpenGL) and a huge OpenGL party, all happening on Tuesday next week. Full details can be found here, and the party details can be found here.
The Khronos Group just wrapped up another tour in Asia. Slides from the visit and a few photos are available online.
