OneStone Math for the PocketPC uses the OpenGL ES API for visually learning calculus

May 05, 2005 OneStone Math for the PocketPC, is a powerful, innovative calculus program designed for educators and students that uses the OpenGL ES API to create stunning 3D graphics on standard Pocket PCs. It includes tools for evaluating integrals, derivatives, and performing 2 and 3D vector math, provides the standard Windows features like the ability to save and open files, and offers a tightly focused feature set so users can concentrate on the insights the program provides, rather than struggling with calculator manuals or device-specific behaviors

OpenVG hardware accelerated demo (mpeg video capture)

April 04, 2005 This video capture of hardware accelerated OpenVG running on a Bitboys G12 processor shows the uses of OpenVG in mobile devices for high-quality graphics, interactive user interface, foreign language support, and more. This is an actual video grab of the output from a PDA device using a regular OpenVG 1.0 and the Bitboys accelerator.

Aplix JBlend Java platform for mobile devices to integrate OpenGL ES and OpenVG

April 04, 2005 Aplix is a leading provider of Java platforms for mobile devices in the Japanese market and a major provider in other markets (the JBlend platform is in more than 92 million mobile phones and consumer electronics devices). They will integrate Hybrid's OpenGL ES, M3G (JSR 184) and and OpenVG implementations for J2ME to Aplix's JBlend platform.

Cinital implements OpenML in Prevision virtual set technology at NAB

April 04, 2005 Previzion is virtual set technology for broadcast field applications that combines live video input, keying, 3D background rendering, real time color correction, compositing, and live video output. It uses an OpenML internal media pipeline and is being demonstrated at NAB in booth SL5529 in the LVCC South Hall.

OpenML API to be released as Open Source

April 04, 2005 The OpenML API is being released as open source on Sourceforge. The OpenML specification provides software and hardware developers with a professional-grade, cross-platform, standardized media framework for the capturing, processing, synchronizing and playing of digital media content - including video, audio and 3D graphics - for authoring and content creation systems.

ALT OpenGL ES implementation to be included with INTEGRITY RTOS for aerospace and automotive applications

April 04, 2005 An implementation of OpenGL ES from Khronos member ALT Software will be included in the INTEGRITY RTOS package. The principal markets are aerospace and automotive (telematics) where small footprint, high performance embedded OpenGL solutions are critical for reliability and safety.

FutureMark benchmark for Mali100 OpenGL ES-accelerated yields high FPS

April 04, 2005 In Futuremark's SPMark04 3D game test for handheld devices, Mali 100 from Falanx Microsystems, was certified to yield a performance of 39.9 frames per second at resolution 176 by 220 pixels. In comparison, current smart phones, with no hardware 3D acceleration, yield between 8 and 16 frames per second at resolution 176 by 144 pixels.

Presentations from Tokyo and Seoul Developer University events available for download

April 04, 2005 The Developer University events in Tokyo and Seoul were exceptionally well attended and another 200 developers were trained in OpenGL ES coding and optimization. OpenVG and OpenMAX introductions were also presented. The powerpoint presentations from this event are online (English, Japanese and Korean).

JPR TechWatch looks at the two-track OpenGL ES 1.x and 2.x Roadmap (2.6 MB pdf)

March 03, 2005 This weeks JPR TechWatch reports on many things including the two-track roadmap for OpenGL ES: OpenGL ES 1.x and OpenGL ES 2.x. OpenGL ES 1.x is designed for resource restrained platforms like embedded and some handsets. OpenGL ES 2.x is designed for platforms that can take advantage of programmability.
