support / API for encryption/decryption/DRM in OpenMax

    Hi,

I wanted to understand if OpenMax has any APIs which expose interface to underlying Secure Processor of a chip. I would assume OpenMax IL is the best place for such an API. The Secure Processor of any chip has APIs related to encryption and decryption of any content ( e.g. secure boot, decrypting media stream etc.) . Exposing these secure processor API through OpenMax is highly desirable. Please let me know if there is any. If not, is there any discussion to include it in the OpenMax specification?

    thank you.

IIRC, the working group did discuss DRM, but decided that there was enough difference in existing implementations to make it difficult to standardise an API for it.

The standard does not stop you from adding proprietary interfaces, to allow for key exchange and authentication between components.
