    Re: clCreateSubBuffer and clreleaseMemObject

    A lot of sense :)

    So if I understand correctly:

    cl_buffer_region posRegion;
    posRegion.origin = 0;
    posRegion.size = numGridCells*sizeof(cl_int);
    cl_mem testDevice1 =...

    clCreateSubBuffer and clreleaseMemObject

    Hi, I think my following question is obvious but I can't find the answer explicity in the OpenCL specification.

    Imagine I create a subbuffer:

    cl_buffer_region posRegion;
    posRegion.origin =...

    Re: Memory occupancy

    Actually I just want to check how much memory is my algorithm using in each step.

    Anyway, I decided to count using a static variable in my class so I increment the number of bytes each time I...

    Memory occupancy

    Hi,

    Is there any way to check the total free space memory available in the GPU? Not the total GPU memory.

    Or the other way arround, any way to know the total alloced memory.

    Thanks.

    Re: Memory access pattern

    I understand that this is solved in compilation time. I mean, I do not have to do anything special, just declare my array as float2 and the compiler optimizes the access instructions. Correct me if I...

    Memory access pattern

    Hi all,

    I want to store in global memory a 2D grid where each cell grid stores 2 floats. I was wondering which is the best way. Every time a thread needs to read a cell grid position of memory it...

    Struct in VS 2008 compiler

    Hi,

    A cl_float4 type is defined in cl_platform.h as

    typedef union
    {
    cl_float CL_ALIGNED(16) s[4];
    #if defined( __GNUC__) && ! defined( __STRICT_ANSI__ )

    Re: 'y' is not a member of cl_float2

    I finally opt by another solution. I do MakeFile projects with visual studio and I compile with the gcc compiler via cygwin. This way __GNUC__ variable is defined and the compiler launches no error....

    Re: C++ Binding Link Error in VS 2010

    Be sure you're linking with win32 libraries and compiling in win32 platform. If you links with shrUtils64.lib but compile in win32, it reports this error.

    I hope it helps

    'y' is not a member of cl_float2

    Hi,

    I'm having a compiling issue.

    cl_float2 p;
    p.x = 1.0;
    p.y = 1.0;

    reports the error:

    Re: clRetainMemObject

    Sorry, I did not understand you. Now is clear.

    My last question is, why is this usefull? I mean, to ensure that the reference count is not zero don't call clReleaseMemObject. Does it mean that if...

    Re: clRetainMemObject

    So, correct me if I'm wrong. Using the same example:

    // Create a buffer called 'taco'
    cl_mem taco = clCreateBuffer(...);

    // Enqueue some nonblocking command that accesses 'taco'...

    clRetainMemObject

    About clRetainMemObject I read in the OpenCL specification:

    "After the memobj reference count becomes zero and commands queued for execution on a command-queue(s) that use memobj have...

    CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES problem

    My program is launching a CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES after enqueue a kernel. I'm pretty sure that is not a memory or registers issue. Basically because I tried with a very simple kernel with very few...
