    Re: picking

Did it 2 years ago by modifying O3D's picking library, it will be very tedious if you want to implement picking by your own. Can't really remember all the details.

    I think googling "Ray triangle...
  2. Re: API for menu that will draw on top of canvas/webGL

I'm not sure it is something similar what I did in my prototype, the menus are all on top of the WebGL canvas. This is the link to my prototype - click on images to get into the WebGL interface.

  3. Re: Proof of concept of WebGL annotation service

Hey, thank you for your compliment. I am constantly including more features. Had open a visitor account so people don't have to go through all the annoying registering process just to play around 3D...
  4. Re: Proof of concept of WebGL annotation service

Appreciate the people who visited my project, but getting some feedback will be nice, so I can ensure that it is working for most of the people.
  5. Proof of concept of WebGL annotation service

    Hi all,

I would like to present my PhD project from University of Queensland - Semantic annotation of 3D museum artefacts (3DSA). I had developed this proof of concept annotation prototype based...

Re: Collada to JSON converter (O3D?)

I believed that I still have a copy of O3D converter in my drive somewhere. Reply to this message or email me your email address and I can pass it onto you.

I don't think Collada is often used for...
  7. Re: is possible to split just the indices?

Woops, my bad for not reading the question clearly, You can seperate an objects to multiple segment but I believe that they are required to store the vertices for every segment as well.

    But if you...
  8. Re: is possible to split just the indices?

You definitively can split your mesh into separate small segments.

You can also considering using drawArray instead of drawElement for large amount of triangles, as drawArray does not have a...

Re: community action : no webgl support

Should also aware that Chrome had black-listed GPU acceleration in XP and should activate using this extension: --ignore-gpu-blacklist

And as far as I know, the latest Firefox also need to go...

    Re: drawArrays vs drawElements

I think it also depends on needs as well. Like I'm working with cultural heritage and museum 3D objects, which these laser scanned objects contains lots of triangles. While there is a limit in...

    Re: webgl and vrml/x3d

How about coverting VRML to X3D and then fire up X3DOM?

Still tedious but better than recreate VRML player in WebGL.

    Re: Select only visible vertices

I've read through the mailing list, I think they make it like this is to support interoperability between Webgl libraries. Nevertheless, I still think that this flexibility of changing attributes are...

    Re: Select only visible vertices

I actually did tried that method, but it does not work for the second call of getContext, it still address the attributes from the first getContext that was initially created.

    That means if I set...

    Re: Select only visible vertices

Strange, Chrome will pick up a lot of unwanted polygons, while Firefox 4 works fine. The only thing I notice is that Chrome have anti-alias enabled and Firefox is disabled by default. Never know...

    Re: Select only visible vertices

Tried it, only half way success. The thing is that the polygon are so dense in my 3D object, that sometimes the colour detection addresses the wrong element.

However, it seems to be colour...

    Re: Select only visible vertices

    Hi Steve,

Sorry for not stating it clear, what I mean by segment is actually a group of polygons. The user will define a 2D region, and based on that region, the system will select the polygons...

    Re: Select only visible vertices

    Hi Steve,

Is that mean I have to render the vertices into pixels that their colour will address to its indices or position, and use readPixel() to retrieve the colours on the viewpoirt? If not,...

    Select only visible vertices

    Hi,

Currently I'm using O3D framework with WebGL, love it.
I am working on a 3D annotation service, where people can highlight segment parts on the 3D objects and do tagging. However, I do...
  19. How to select the vertices that had been rendered.

    Hi,

I'm wondering how do we get the vertices that had been only proccessed by the shader, projected and rendered on the screen.?

And also, how am I going to get the "gl_position" value and be...

    Hi Greg,

Hey thanks for your reply. I'll try it out. Nearly lost the hope of getting the answer for this question, thank goodness that I have come back to have a look (after a month)

    Hi all,

    GLContextWGL problem

    Hi,

Every time I close the firefox 4 beta with a page contains any webgl content. It'll always pop up this message:

  23. Re: webgl related, but more html what about a 3d tag?

I think this idea is very similar to the old VRML/X3D approach.

    Actually, try x3dom.
    http://www.x3dom.org/

Which allow running X3D with WebGL backend.
